What to do before your 5 year warranty expires?

Mine is up soon, and I don't have any problems that are un bearable, but I am curious if there's anything I should for sure do before it expires?

How does the end of the warranty work? Say I note something with a dealer now, would I be able to get it fixed later on after the warranty?

2010 1LT with ~50k miles, if it makes a difference.

Depends on what is covered under your particular warranty and if any issues you have are covered.

If you have no issues I'd just let it expire, warranty doesn't cover maintenance.

I'd probably have the next round of maintenance completed if it's close to being due, to see if anything comes up. If you're not hearing/seeing/feeling any issues, you're probably clear.

If there are unresolved issues before the warranty ends, it's usually a negotiation with the dealer and it should be addressed and documented before the warranty is up. Sometimes they cover stuff beyond the end of the warranty if it was a known but unresolved issue before. It's really up to the dealership.

Powertrain Warranty?

My Chevy owner center shows for my car:
- 100K/5 year Powertrain
- 100K/6 Year Corrosion
- 80K/8 Year Emissions
- 36K/3 Year Bumper-to-bumper (expired)

Do you have an issue they should look at now? Do it!

I'm on my last year right now as well, and I'm modding mine during these last few months, I could care less at this point, but the car being paid off helps as well..

If a issue is documented before the warranty is up your covered. but you can't decide to fix it later. You have to get it fixed within a reasonal amount of time or as soon as the dealer can fix it. If you have any concerns get them documented now.

If you have a 2010 check for the defective oil pan gasket.....that's a big expensive job to pay for.

I bought the "extended" 8 year/100k bumper to bumper at purchase, cuz I have bad luck with "new" cars. As always maintainence & wear n tear are never covered.

You can buy an ext warranty at anytime. Mines been expired and I still get calls to warranty it by Chevy because it's under 36k miles

If you have issues that are covered under warranty get them fixed now! Maybe some dealers with fix an issue later if it is documented before the warranty runs out, but I have never heard of this before. I have always experienced the opposite. Multiple trips to a dealer to fix and issue and then when the warranty runs out and it's still not fixed they say "sorry your warranty is expired, but we'll be happy to fix it at your expense"

You can't get a "concern" documented, it has to be a problem that it currently is having and needs to be worked on. The only way to do that is to do the standard maintenance service and get them to go over the whole car to see if they notice anything.
