Royal Purple
Is anyone planning on putting Royal Purple or any other high name brand lubricants in their ZL1's after break in? Or before!! If so, what brand do you plan on using? Are you just planning on just swapping oil? Or more? Also is there going to be much of a benefit by switching to a higher end oil?

I'm debating between the two myself!! Wonder what other people's opinion are of the two! I had an 02 SS SLP edition and I switched out and put Royal Purple in both the engine oil, and rear differential! Seemed to work out great!! Just don't know much more about Amsoil! Is it any better than Royal Purple or is it just preference?

check to see which one meets manufacture specs. I have a feeling royal purple doesn't.

I plan to stay with Mobile1 and change the oil at 1500 miles.

Amsoil was SO slippery it made the roller bearing in my motorcycle clutch start sliding instead of rolling, which caused groves and required replacement within a couple thousand miles. The moral of my story is find out before you use something whether or not exceeding the manufacturer's specs can cause damage.

I've used Royal Purple in all my cars, they have break in oil for new engines even. Be aware though, I always take my card to do oil changes to my nearest Chevy dealer, where I also purchase my vehicules.
I was warned, using royal purple, basically voids your warranty. Yeah you heard it, I was told by my service advisor. Unless you put in what Chevy recommends, thich I think it's valvoline, basically you are voiding your warranty.

Whatever oil is in there when i bring her home is getting replaced with Joe Gibbs break-in oil. Then Joe Gibbs synthetic after 500 miles. The warranty thing is about the recently EPA illegal additives (good for your engine additives like zinc and phosphorous) which may affect the CAT's. The dealer will never know what oil was in your engine unless you tell them.

It's a very well respected oil in racing circles and I use it with great results. Please read the Training Center tab in the site. It is perfect for roller lifters too.

I'll be using the Amsoil. I swear by the stuff and they basically wrote the book on synthetic oil. Royal Purple is excellent oil but I have never used it personally and to me Amsoil has the history behind them and is the best money can buy in oils IMO

I have used Royal Purple and Amsoil and both are also excellent. They are not, along with Joe Gibbs, approved by GM solely for warranty reasons regarding CAT life.

I'll be going with Amsoil. I use it in all my vehicles. One has 331,000 on it. I just did the first change on the Z with Mobile1 at 650 miles. I'll change it again at 2,000 then switch to Amsoil at 5,000. Why the wait for Amsoil? The engine will not break-in properly if used too soon.
