Shoot the first tech you see on the spot....then ask the others if they have any questions...you wont have to worry about the car.

Honestly, Ive watched and at times walked in and closely watched what they were doing to learn and see how its done. This was on my Maxima, havent had the SS serviced yet but I have an interest in what they are doing to be honest. Im a bank auditor so I dont see this stuff too often.

No. That was the Cuyahoga river which empties into Lake Erie.

I watch if I can but its more from just being interested on whats going on more than concern that they know what they are doing.. This is especially true if its on a lift since I don't have one myself so its my only chance to see whats going on underneath..

I do my own maintenance but if I brought the car to a shop, I wouldn't watch the techs. I know some people who are technicians at repair shops and they always say the most annoying thing customers do is watch them when they work on cars. The waiting areas at repair shops are there for a reason......to keep customers safe and keep annoying customer eyes and mouths away from the technicians. If you really know and care for your car, you will notice something wrong when driving away from the repair shop if the tech did something wrong....

I trust the guys at my dealership to do it right. They know I care... they take care of my car. I wander over to the sales floor and find a bored salesman, chat him up a bit, we go for a test drive. Dude let me drive a 45th 2SS/RS last week while they changed my oil.

keep in mind many of them are probably just kids and it's probably their first car, or at least first new one.

Nope, I'm not bothered about leaving any of my cars at a garage. I just drive it onto the forecourt, chuck the keys on their desk, and jump in the wife's car for the ride home. I like the Camaro, but the obsession some folks demonstrate here is beyond belief sometimes. It is just a current model, mid price range car. If it gets that rough, just buy another.

Amen.

If you're gonna be "that guy", a little wuss that can't do his own work, yet watches over a techs shoulder and wrings his hands and gets obsessive and obnoxious over every detail, then you are just asking for something to happen to your car.

I do the bulk of the work on my own. However, I currently have limited access to tools as well as dedicated car space. And at the moment, I have more money than time. I have a great relationship with my dealer, with everyone from the general manager, to the service manager, to my mechanic. And it didn't get that way by being "that guy".

I remember seeing signs at auto shops regarding service rates:

Hourly rate: $40.00 an hour
If you wait: $50.00 an hour
If you watch: $60.00 an hour
If you help: $100.00 an hour
