Any guesses on 6th gen appearance?

I don't know about you, but I have been dying to see what the new 6th gen will look like (I want to know if I will be buying one or buying another 5th gen). I mean I had hopes of seeing the car back in January in Detroit and now that Chicago has passed as well, makes me wonder if they are trying to up the anticipation or if they are scrambling to finish a few things..... either way I have high hopes for New York in April.

Judging from the leaked photos of the car, I'd guess it's going to be smaller. I also think it will stray somewhat from the retro appearance, and become more Mustang-like. It will be probably be quicker, due to lighter weight.

I want to see the new car, but the more leaks that happen, the more the car looks like the current gen. I'm thinking simplified version of a 5th gen, slightly smaller, simplified body lines (no gills), etc. I do thing the interior is something that is going to get a complete rework. IMO, the interior will be the biggest change this generation.

I think you are spot on. I see a smaller, global appealing, sleek 5th Gen rendition with HUGE interior improvements.

I was surprised that Chevy didn't include a retro style automatic shifter in the 5th gens... I wonder if we will see one in the new models?

The retro shifter would be a great mod to a 5th gen if made available...sorry to derail the discussion

I think it looks like the trunk is less pronounced / smaller in the 6th Gen vs the 5th Gen cars. It makes me think that the same transformation is underway that happened between the 1st Gen cars and the 2nd Gen cars ('69 vs '70 1/2). Deja vu?

The new 6th Gen will be about 350-400lbs lighter, but otherwise, I fully expect it to look like the 2015, albeit slightly smaller dimensions.

As said above, I expect the interior will be much refreshed, as will the powerplant for the SS. I fully expect a 450-470hp LT1 in the SS and expect the Stingray to get a 30-50hp bump with the same motor.....

My guess is the production version will be a little leaner, and a little meaner than the current gen. Chances are I'll end up liking it...all Camaro designs seem to grow on me one way or another.

All this seems to be happening rather quickly. Back when we were waiting to see the production version of the 5th gen, we had to wait 7 years uphill both ways in the snow, and it was 3 years between the first viable concept images and seeing the crazy bubble-wrapped test mules with those crazy looking pre-production headlights, on the road.

As a larger person, I have fears that I may have bought the last Camaro that I fit in. Hope that is not the case!

I'm guessing a mofidied 5th Gen, basically. Unless GM is throwing us a curveball with all the mules we've seen, it'll look like a facelifted 5th Gen, only slightly smaller. I do agree that the interior will probably see a radical change, the more mainstream reviewers/buyers all harp on about it being outdated now, and it's an area GM has really been improving in.

As far as weight is concerned, as much as I'd like to see the Camaro drop 350-400 lbs, I just don't think that's realistic. The next Camaro will be on the Alpha platform, with the ATS, so the ATS is a good place to start. A V6 ATS coupe weiched by Car and Driver came in at 3,565 lbs, and a V6 Camaro weighed by Motor Trend came in at 3,771 lbs. That's only 206 lbs. Performance Camaros will have the additional weight of larger brakes/heavy duty suspension, which won't help them. Even if Chevrolet pulls out ~75 lbs relative to the Caddy with interior and sound deadening materials, I don't really see more than a 250-275 lb drop comparing current V6 and V8 cars to next-gen V6 and V8 cars. Granted, I'm thrilled about that loss, and if we get the 2.0T, I'd expect another 100 lb loss compared to the V6 model (a 2.0T ATS coupe weighs 3,463 lbs) so the driving dynamics should be excellent. Just don't go into it expecting C7 'Vette wieghts.
