Ok, pulled the cables and let it sit. Used different battery, same result.
Thinking that I might look at that bulletin and see if that does the trick. Man, it would be so easy just to flat bed it in. Too bad my trust level of a dealership is so low. |

Maybe the battery in the Key is weak? Happened to me in my daily '17 malibu. Try different key or inserting the Key into the magic slot and see if it gets a better read.

Well, I finally towed it in and today got the answer. The starter failed. They said they couldn't believe it.
That thought crossed my mind, I admit, but never thought it could be a real possibility. Case solved! |

Camaro has that issue with the starter going bad. I had the same thing happen to me. Except it took them 2 weeks to figure it out. Those dealerships are something else.

I actually just had the same thing happen to my other car which is a jeep grand cherokee, but it turned out to be a loose grounding wire connecting to the alternator. Just tightened it up and it fired right up. That may also be a good place to check when something like this happens.

And the finale....
Picked it up today and everything is perfect. Washed it and inspected it. No scratches, no grease, no added miles. Very happy! Thanks out to Phil Smith Chevy! Sadly half the worry was created by the Internet forums. Just a sign of our times, I guess. |
