Which oil to use on cam

I am going to be installing my cam this weekend and I was curious on what oil to use.

My last car I ran the Valvoline vr1 but that is not sold anymore.

Soooooo.... Any suggestions?

I use Amsoil now but think i will go with Driven LS30 after i install the cam. I will use driven BR30 brake in oil at 1500-2000 rpm for 20-30min until full operating temp when I 1st start with new cam and change it with BR30 and run for 500miles. then do LS30 as Driven suggests with a LS engine.

I should have bought a ZL1

Using Mobil 1, but switched to 10W-30 instead of 5W-30. Despite other opinions, high ZDDP has no real benefit for a roller cam. Flat tappet, yes...roller, no. While not crucial to our engines, high ZDDP won't hurt anything either, as long as you are running without catalytic converters. High ZDDP with ruin them.

Mobil 1 has an excellent film strength rating, which is very important for high-RPM engines that have racing valve springs. The high valve-spring pressures can ruin a cam if your oil has a weaker film-strength rating. Pennzoil Ultra is also an excellent "over-the-counter" choice. You can compare ratings in an older thread I started here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304435

You can get driven oil local in most places. Do the dealer search on their site. I got ls30 $8.35 a quart and br30 $7.75 a qt. Comparable prices at two driven oil distributors within 10 mins of me.
