Powder coating estimate was $50 minimum per wheel in my area when I asked last week. That’s pretty cheap considering how much more durable it is vs paint. That explains why I see so many wheels in his shop when I bring stuff for coating.

About $300-$400 for the set. Not too bad

That's the best I've ever heard of. If he is any good I can see why he's packed!

My rears faded within the first couple thousand miles. Had them replaced under warranty and the new set still look new with 11K on the car. I did notice they are slightly less glossy than the original so maybe the manufacturer changed the painting process. Or maybe theyll go bad in a year or two and I have to have them powdercoated.....

OP or anyone else with issue, did they honor warranty? Having same issue too, after a little over a year of ownership.

Hmmm, I'm definitely going to be using some kind of protectant on mine. Just ordered a bottle of CarPro Reload. It's supposedly safe for wheels. Should help?

No, it’s too thin.....Nothing will protect you against paint actually degrading, and/or rocks that hit it.

Well, I'll have to keep an eye on it. Might have to join the powder coat crowd at some point. Thanks.

My car is at 19,000 miles. Do you think I can still get the wheels replaced under warranty?

When I went to the dealership in November with the issue the service adviser took some pictures and sent them off to GM. A couple weeks later they came back and said they'd replace the rims under warranty. I'm actually going in Weds to get them replaced. 14k miles on the car.

They should address the issue until you go over 36k miles or 3 years...
