I have this argument with my import friends all the time. They throw a supercharger on their 16 sec car to get 13's. Then they think since my Camaro running 12.2 should be in 9's with supercharger. Once you get in high 11's and low 12's, it takes a lot of effort and money to drop a second off your numbers. Can't beat this car for the money period.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still buying one.

It will be faster than a GT350R on a track and faster than a Hellcat at the strip. That's no small feat.
Exactly what Mike said. Remember what they said the braking distances and handling G's would be with the Camaro SS? Once testers got their hands on the car, they were able to easily beat those numbers. I'm sure the same will be true with this car.

I want one, bad. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get one for quite some time.

The mph alone tells a big part of this story. Let's all remember that this thing supposedly went 11.4 on a street tire. Not a slick, not a DR. Traction dictates elapsed time. Mph on the other hand is a better indication of power output. You can take a 3600 pound car and go low 11's at 120mph. Now consider adding another 300-400 pounds, air conditioning, a host of driver comforts and a warranty at 127 or better and you have one awesome machine.

If you're disappointed at any of these numbers take your car to the track and try shaving off a few tenths and see much work it takes once you're down in that time spot. I'd like to know what kind of 60ft time they had when they ran it.

We'll have to wait and see, as while it has all the right goodies and more power, it also has 200+ pounds on a GT350R depending on if it's an auto or stick. Still, we have to be proud of GM for giving us this car at this price point. The z/28 will likely be the GT350R killer.

Not until late this year. They're not even open to order yet.

That ZL1 is a beast... but I still hate the grilles on the V8 bodies. V6 is MUCH better looking.

I'll have to think on this one for a bit. Any idea when we can actually go to a dealer and order one of these things?
My thoughts exactly, also what will they go used in 2-3 years and what will discounts look like in 2 years. High volume corvette dealers are doing 5-8K off sticker regularly and even over 10K off on left overs they need to move.

In three years you think it will only have lost $17K off its MSRP price? Most leases are three years and I think residual value for most cars is like 50%-60% of new. So if that held here (may not since ZL1 is rarer possibly) you'd be looking at three year old ZL1s for 31K - 37K.

Oh man, I sold my ZL1 and got a C6 ZR1......these numbers are only slightly slower......for a much more modern awesome looking badass car! Crap, my wife is going to kill me if I get one of these and sell the ZR1. Gotta see it in person. I've only read good things.

My 2013 didn't see anyone around the $40K price. Stock with very low miles. I had to let it go for $38K. So it's closer to a $20k price difference.
