Immobilized!!!

Could we PLEASE go back to the days of just having keys for our cars, with separate remotes?!?!

I'd just checked out at a store today and was standing waiting for my friend's purchases to be scanned and ready, when my remote suddenly popped open and pieces went everywhere. I was simply holding it. Didn't knock it on anything. Didn't drop it. Nothing. It just suddenly popped apart. :upset:

My friend and I scrambled for pieces, but there were obviously some things missing. O well, I have a key, so I can start the car, right? Uh, noooo. When we got in the car, it would not start. Our lovely "safety and security" feature, the engine immobilizer, didn't like the fact that my remote was not complete. :upset:

With alot more searching, and crawling on the floor in the store, we found all the pieces and got it back together. Success!!! Had I been a long way from home, though, or had one of the pieces been completely lost or broken, I'd have been stuck.

Put me down as disliking this "feature" IMMENSELY!!!!!!

Has anyone else had this happen? I wonder if the remote will stay together now, long term. Once I got home, I switched it for the new remote that's not been used, just in case.

*****UPDATE******

Just got a new fob from the dealer this week. They did replace it under warranty.

Maybe you should have been more cautious and bought a Mustang!

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Maybe the v6s just immobilize themselves at the dragstrip so their owners don't hurt them (or hurt themselves)!!!

That's just mean!

Seriously, I'm sitting there in my own car with the key in my hand, and it's flashing the immobilized signal like grand theft auto. :upset:

Yeah, I'm one of the boring, cautious girls in his thread telling him to be careful.

Right, because you can get into a whole lot of trouble with one of those V6s...but now that I see you own a V8, I get it. (I mean you, btw)

Seriously though, that was a pretty lame comeback.
