To X Pipe Or Not?
Sorry if this has been brought up already. I just got rid of the fat cans and replaced them with a pair of flowmasters and im happy with the low tone it gave the car. What I wondering is, is it worth it to drop the mid resonator and add a X pipe? Will the AFM drone get worse (I have a L99)? Will the car get louder or have pops and crackles? This is the only mod I have done to the car so far and was just curious. Thanks in advance!

The car will get louder and probably pop a little more. It may or may not make the drone worse.

On the average an X pipe is quieter than an H pipe. It will smooth out some rev ranges to compared to an H.

Absolutely not. You can do pretty much anything behind the cats and it won't throw a code. Hell you can completely remove the catback and you won't throw a code. Codes happen from manipulating pre-cat stuff.

Summit sells one just for the Camaro that replaces haqlf of the midpipe.

a 2.5" universal will work... I used a non-resonated one from magnaflow on my stock catback when I had it on... any exhaust shop can cut out your stock h-pipe/resonator and weld the x-pipe in, while adding some additional 2.5" pipe to it to feel the gap in the exhaust left by removing the resonator...

It's also a weight reduction.

I wouldn't say that ANY 2.5in X pipe will work. The X pipe fits up in the drive shaft tunnel so that eliminates a few of the universal ones. Magnaflow has one that fits the Camaro perfectly and is around $75.

the magnaflow 10791 is the unresonated Tru-Flo X-pipe that is 2.5"... and as stated, you can get them on ebay for about $75 shipped... I would say a vendor but I have yet to find one who sells individual things like that
