Guess The Performance Numbers.
Here's a thread just for fun while we wait for more information.
Before I begin, let me just start by saying I'm new to this site, but I've been a member on camaro5 for a long time. I currently own a 2014 Shelby GT500, which I LOVE, but the idea of getting something with a nice interior such as the new Camaro will have, as well as being a better balanced all around car, intrigues me. That and I'd be able to get a nicer daily driver. The ridiculous horsepower was fun for a long time, but what I learned is whether you have 300 horsepower for 800 horsepower, you always get used to it and it doesn't blow you away anymore. That and there's always something faster. Back to the original topic. What do you think the performance stats are gonna be for this car? Here are my guesses…. 0-60: 4.2 seconds 1/4 mile: 12.2-12.3 at 115/116 mph Lateral G's: 1.05-1.07 Braking distance 60-0 mph in 100-105 feet I really have no guesses for top speed, that has a lot to do with aerodynamics which I don't know how aerodynamic this car is. Okay, you turn |

If it hits those numbers then I'd say it's a win win win.

All of our acceleration guesses seem very similar. I was hoping for over a G of grip though. The Chevy SS sedan was rated at .94G. The current Camaro SS 1LE is rated at 1.03G, the new stand is .96G and the upcoming Ford Focus RS was promised to have over a full G of grip. That's where my guess for lateral grip came from.

SS seems to come with run flat only tires. If Michelin pilot SS tires were an option, I could see over 1g lateral.

If they were to make the Michelin Cup 2 tires an option, I would definitely check that box

Thanks.
You guys don't think it will at least come close to matching the 1LE SS' measured grip? I would guess between 5 and 5.5 seconds, quarter mile high to mid 13's probably. Especially if it lost 300 pounds like they say. |
