This is a big one, especially now that temps are back on the rise. These clay alternatives do not like heat.

Find which is the problem and fix that. The fine grade doesn't mar hard camaro paint in my experience. And I've done just about every color. The mitt and fine grade clay in general can mar and microscratch soft paints. I've had issues with nissans, acuras, and porsches in the past.

That is why (as goodtimes stated) it is best practice to polish after claying.

.
Spot on.... If you don't mind I would like to add a little more to your points sir.

1) Glide the Nanoskin mitt over the paint, don't press
2) Car soap can lead to marring. There is actually a thread on the AutopiaForums.com about this. Nanoskin offers several different styles of lubricant, designed to work with their rubberized surfaces. My favorite is Glide.
3) As you mentioned, you drove the car which is likely a huge source of the scouring. This would happen with clay as well.
4) Make sure to break the mitt in on glass first
5) Yep.
