Interested as well. I'm not really seeing anything that would help their non-GT trims sell. The V6 is gone, prices are up, and A10 isn't something people are going to run out to grab in that segment. I wouldn't be surprised with Ford's push for performance on this refresh if sales don't slide. The Mustang like the Camaro is moving more in a "premium" market.

All true.

But, wait until they see the sticker price suddenly shot UP $3,000 for a gt w/ perf pack.

Then, wait for all the 6th gen fans who are waiting for the 2019 Camaro refresh - including:

Above mentioned A10.

More horsepower to top Mustang - as usual.

New 1SS without RS, and minus "performance pack" (Brembo brakes, etc) for a price thousands $$$ lower than the current 1SS, to match entry level mustang gt.

Bye bye mustang!

That wouldn't cause Camaro sales to jump up, and if there were THAT many people waiting for the 2018 Mustang to drop, or waiting for 2017 Mustang incentives, the Mustang's sales would have dropped quite a bit. Neither adds up.

The real question is whether Camaro retail sales actually increased, or if this was a massive fleet dump.
We no dump - (anymore).

We win!

Ford plans to kill cars in order to spend on trucks, SUVs and EVs

Quote:
Ford is gearing up for the future with a new strategic plan, and that means massive overall spending cuts and, on top of that,

redistributing development funds from cars to much more profitable trucks and SUVs.

That means, basically, that some Ford car nameplates will go away – expect some educated speculation on that soon.
But first, the numbers and a quick dive into the details of Ford's announcement.

The overall reduction in spending is about $14 billion – $4 billion of which will be product engineering cuts, and $10 billion of which will be materials savings.

Pretty good stuff right there. I do have to ask, if Camaro had such a good retail month like your numbers suggest, why did the leave it out of their monthly press release? They had mentioned it other times this year. Only thing I can think of is since I believe they compare Sept 17 to Sept 16 that Sept 16 was better in terms of sales.

I bought my SS back in February, and honestly did not see a lot of 6th gens on the road, but in the last month or so I've seen several just around my part of town. They must be catching on finally.

Retail sales data is something that I have wanted to see for a while since the S550 Mustang came out. I seriously wondered that if you compare retail to retail if the Camaro was actually beating the Mustang. Your info says that for 2017 YTD the Camaro is beating the Mustang in retail sales, though now I have to ask for your source on this info.

The Ford is still far behind in chassis design.

This is where I feel that the 2018 Mustang while offering a much better performing vehicles will still fall short. I expect that fully loaded Mustang GTs with performance package and A10 transmission will be around 3,900 pounds in curb weight.
