Battery Drained; Battery Charger Acting Weird

I was away for 3 weeks and when I came back the battery was dead. I've never used a battery charger before; I figured I should set it to 10 amps for speed, but after an hour saw no change. So for kicks I set it to 2 and suddenly the charge amount jumped from 0 to 25. Then I switched it back and the needle seemed to drop even lower than 0%. So now I have it back on 2 amps and it seems a bit more than 25%. Is this expected? How long will it take to charge at 2 amps (if at all)?

Your battery might be done.

It’s because you can’t charge an agm from dead flat..... You have to get it up to 8 to 10 V before it’ll take a charger. The best way to do it is to get another fully charged battery and connect it up in parallel, let them equalize and then you can use the charger. Or take it to auto parts store and they can resuscitate it.

The 2A setting might do it overnight.

Thanks, I hope this is it so I don't need to replace it. I also considered jumpstarting and seeing if it could charge on its own but didn't want to waste gas if this charger will work.

I have the same charger. It will take at least 12 hrs on 2 amp to charge the battery. Don't pay attention to the needle gauge

AGM's dont like to be taken to 0 volts. I did mine twice by accident and the second time killed the battery permanently.

Well it looks like charging at 2 amps overnight fixed it. I'll make sure to invest in a tender or else disconnect the battery next time I leave town.

You can also put the car in transport mode as well, that process shuts down all of the modules other than the ones needed to start the car.

Search it, I put it here a year ago, it’s a multi step process....but like written above, it does not do much....
