Interesting. I've owned over 25 cars, most bought new, and have never once experienced this problem.

Mine was doing the same..adjusted the two plastic type screws on trunk and it's been good since

Plus one on this....the rubber stoppers were a little loose, so they were higher than they should be, making the trunk lid close with too much tension on it. I turned my rubber stoppers in tight. (all the way down)
