Thumbs down

I'm glad to see the emphasis on aerodynamics but still with the oversized front bowtie? Come on GM!

Do you have an idea of how you would have liked the car to look?
Can you point to another car as an example?
What would you like to have seen in the new car?

Genuine, sincere questions.

GM isn't exactly on financially solid ground. I can completely understand them not wanting to completely toss out the gen 5 design that was so wildly popular. Remember the gen 4 Camaro? They went out on a limb there and it killed the brand.

“The importance of aerodynamics increases exponentially as we increase vehicle performance,” said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager. “As engine output increases, we need more engine cooling. As acceleration and top speeds climb, we need to reduce lift for better high-speed stability. However, we cannot make any changes at the expense of increasing drag, which can hurt fuel economy.

So, what I read in this is that, yes, the SS will have the 455 HP LT1. Also that the ecu top speed limiter of 155 may be removed.

I think the roof line looks good.

Yep...not much to see here....other than that HUGE mouth the front end is going to get. I'm sure when we see the entire front end it will balance out more, but just by looking at that one picture alone, the lower opening looks ridiculously large. Hope once it all comes together it will look good. There are a few lines in the profile shot that are pretty cool that aren't in Chaz's rendering. Such as the line that runs from A piller all the way back, over the side windows to the back. Also, the line that wraps under the rear 1/4 glass and goes all the way to the front fenders.

Assuming the bowtie is the same size as the 5th gen, this shot seems to show that the top opening is even slimmer than the 2014-2015 Camaro front end, which already seems pretty tight. On the newer 5th gens, there is still a bit of grill gap above and below the bowtie. On this 2016, it looks like there is very little gap at all.

I was hoping for a little bit more than this, but oh wells...5 days folks!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: N/m...Chaz is on the ball like usual and has updated his rendering to match the new lines....http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=825

Yes it will have the LT1 (already confirmed) but we have no clue exactly how much power it will throw down.

Also, bet on the limited not being removed. Raised? Maybe. But these limiters are used in conjunction with the tire's speed rating...not the capability of the vehicle as a whole.

For example, the initial design called for the lower grille bars to be set at a 20-degree angle to the horizon. However, after meticulous testing, the team improved engine-cooling airflow by 1 percent by shifting the angle to 13 degrees – a change that achieved the airflow target while maintaining the original grille design.
Part of me is a little bit disappointed that they took this approach. I miss the wider grill opening that existed before the mid-cycle refresh in 2014.

I'm OK with the bowtie. But I think that's partly b/c I now one of the first things I'm going to do is either replace it with some sort of "flowtie" thing or just do what I did on my 5th gen and put carbon fiber imitation wrap on the inside of the bowtie, while leaving the chrome portion visible. Makes for a very nice change to the car.

Genuine, sincere questions.
Looking at the design changes from the 1st through 3rd gens, there is substantial change in style that is obvious. For better or worse? That's debatable, but the designs weren't stale, they were considered cutting edge. Especially the 3rd gen.
That's what I wanted, cutting edge with a minimal influence from the previous gen, but not this much. It won't set itself apart enough, looks - wise
The other thing that's bothering me is the way GM keeps following Ford's designs. Ford comes out with a retro mustang, GM resurrects the camaro with a retro. Have you looked at the latest mustang? Tall A pillar - fastback C pillar and the edges of the tail light section are very similar in how it helps to form the trunk lid overlap.
In short, there is nothing original in this new gen's looks, just tweaks from the last model.
Say what you will about Ford, but the one thing they are not doing, is resting on their success. Don't get me wrong, I won't own a Ford, but I do admire the way they push the design envelop.
