Traded my Shelby for a ZL1 Today!!!

Today I traded my 07 Shelby got a 2013 ZL1 I found it on line at Chevt21 in Bethlehem PA. It has only 1,200 miles on it and a one owner car. Drove the Shelby there and drove my ZL1 home! What a great day. The ZL1 rides so much better then the Shelby. Got $31,800 on a trade in and paid $39,000 for the ZL1. I think it was an awesome deal. Nice dealership. Fast, friendly transaction.
The ride home was awesome. What a car! So much more refined then what I drove in with. The Shelby was slightly modified and put 560 at the wheels and had a full Eibach and Roush road race suspension. Nice car but the ZL1 is in a different class. I can't wait to start with some modifications. Thinking about a pulley, air box, headers and a good tune to start. Any suggestions?

Congrats. Nice choice. I'd do headers 10% lower pulley and ATI Damper, Roto-fab air intake also a VMaxx ported throttle body and a good tune. Call Jannetty's in CT and he'll set you up. With what I've listed your looking at 580 at the wheels. Good luck

Ditto.

But, let us know your plan/numbers you want to achieve and I and others can get into more detail. There's tons to learn about these ZL1s, but this Forum is a gold mine for all the info you'll need.

I know, so much info to digest. I'd like to be near 600 rwhp and retain drivability and reliability. Thanks for the help!

What I suggested will put you real close and drivability will be the same as right now. Jannetty's sells a 75 rwhp package. It's perfect and add the headers and hi flow cats.

Yep. JRE 75 Package + Headers tops at about 590rwhp in a M6 car, add a Vmaxx and you should be close to 600 and it will be exactly like stock just...faster

JRE 75 Consists of:
Cold Air Intake
10% Overdrive lower crank pulley (8.6")
ATI Balancer with your choice of GM or ARP bolt
Diablo box and free tune

Link to it here: http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/p...-rwhp-package/

For headers you have American Racing, Kooks, Dynatech, and Stainless Works for the top of the line ones, and for exhaust, you should always go top of the line IMO. Set of the afore mentioned headers will be around 1200-1400$, less if you go catless and less if you can get them wholesale/used.

You can do up to 10% overdrive on the stock injectors. Some people (here comes Stunnah now) have run 18% on stock injectors, but it is a bad idea, and I think anyone would agree with that.

If you want to be making 600 and over then swap the injectors to ID850s (About another 900$) and do a 9.1" or a 9.55" lower pulley instead of the 10% (Which is 8.6"). If you want to run more boost than that, then you'll want to add a cam (Now we're talking 690rwhp and up from there).

At this point, there's a TON of options and information being hurled at you. I know what this is like, it was me less than a year ago, and I remember feeling like I was only getting half information, which is why I try to give more details in response to new guys. Feel free to ask detailed questions.

I'd wait for a little bit, make sure you know what you want, because ultimately, doing what you wanted the FIRST time will cost less money and end up being a better build.

Look around on this Forum, feel free to ask questions.

You made a hell of a deal...Do you have any pics of the Shelby that you traded that you could post for the sake of comparison???Is the ZL1 manual or auto???If manual you can get close to 600rwhp with fewer mods and less money...But as the others have said welcome to the family...We have our feuds but most of the time we're all on the same page...Nice looking car...Please read your manual!!!

I was giving you a pass in my post until I read this...I am a proponent of the 2.55 upper pulley on stock injectors with a simple stage 1 kit...Has not been a problem and drives better than stock with a hell of a lot more HP...I see I'm going to have to keep my eye on someone "Can'tHave2MuchHP"...lol

Yeah, can't have too much HP, but you can blow an engine.

Your car has been fine, but then there's guys like Crash that were running out of fuel on a 5% (stock fueling).
