Install price for LT's?

I meant to call around to some Houston shops today but had too much to do at work. Can anyone give me an idea of what a performance shop will charge to do a LT header install on a 2012 SS? I'd guess somewhere around $400 based on a ~$90/hr shop rate, but what do I know?

Also, I did a LT install on my 98 WS6 back when I was 17 and had 2 buddies "helping" me. Took 5 hours and we had never done one before. That and we had shitty lighting and sub-par jackstands That being said, this model camaro has a lot more room in the engine bay and I've heard it's a much easier install. What's an estimated install time for someone who has done a fair bit of this type work over the last 8 years?

Thanks for your help!

A shop here in Birmingham Alabama wants $95 hour and they get 7 hours for install and $450 for a dyno and tune

Is that 7 hrs just for the LT install? If so, that is way out-of-line. A good shop should be able to do this in a couple of hours; 3 tops. So, around $300-$350 is what I think is reasonable.

LTs for these cars are very straightforward to install.

The dyno tune sounds about right but most shops will cut some off of this if they are doing the LT install.

If your ok around a wrench and you pick a good brand it's not a super hard install.

Most shops have a header purchase/install/tune deal tho if you like

I just did mine in my garage last weekend. Would have been easy if someone had told me these things....
1) RE-USE THE STOCK GASKETS!
2) You can do it on ramps IF you also have a jack to jack each side up a little more to put the headers into place
3) This is the most important and I can't stress this enough....MAKE SURE AND TAKE A PICTURE, VIDEO, WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO SO YOU KNOW HOW TO GET THE OIL DIPSTICK BACK IN.

If you heed those 3 warnings then you should be able to do it with a friend to help in about 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

its cost me $250 to have my headers put on AND my catback hung at the same time, got headers to tip done for that money... i'm fortunate to have a quality shop here in the area that doesn't charge a ridiculous amount of money

he is going to install my torque converter and gears for $350... and will do the nitrous setup for another $250... hell, a guy I know got his cam put in, ported heads put on, and a set of gears put in for $700... and he does top notch work... only problem is, you have to make an appointment and it'll usually be a couple of weeks before he can get to it, why? demand
