Stick on...wide angle mirrors?

Has anyone tried any of the small, round or rectangular wide angle mirrors that simply stick on to the OEM mirror?

What did You like and how did they work out?

I've seen em & IMHO think they cheapen the looks of the car.

Never found a set that blended in with this car. I bought all types...the round ones(too big even the "mini") the rectangular and wide angle were bulky. I gave up never even installed them.

I had them on one of my other cars. They worked, but tended to rattle. These were the round ones that were kinda adjustable.

ugly ones might cheapen the car... but theyre a great blindspot monitoring system for $10....

I always laugh when folks brag about paying thousands more the tech packages that get them blindspot monitoring because they have poor driving habits and common and lack of common sense to slap a pair of fisheye mirrors on...

also... good luck using radar detectors with the blindspot monitoring system...

If you place the non adjustable ones properly you will see great, they wont be ugly, and they wont rattle....

Generally top outboard corner for the drivers side.... passenger side is case by case since OEM mirrors on that side are designed to be more convex...

You can adjust the side mirrors so you don't have blind spots. Been doing it for years.

your side view mirrors ARE your blind spot mirrors. If you can't see your blind spot in your side mirrors then they aren't adjusted properly.

But I love looking down the side of my car rather than other motorists.

There is no noticeable effect at all from the system in my car, but there was one late-model SUV I followed for a bit that rendered my radar detector useless.

mirrors shoudl be set up to BARELY see the edge of your car so you have the most side angle view....

properly set up mirrors still require an over the shoulder check for traffic on your 4 and 8 o'clock....

these mirrors reduce the need to shoulder check in a car that has poor rear quarter visibility

please ignore the hyperbole of the caption... the mirror view is why I used this example...

That's actually not what people who talk about not having blind-spots have their mirrors adjusted to.

To start with:

For the left/driver's side mirror, in your natural seating position, lean your upper body/head towards the drivers side until your head barely touches the window. Adjust the mirror so that your car is just barely not visible. When you return your head/body to center, the mirror will now be pointed such that you can see what is beside your car.

For the right mirror, repeat the process but for leaning rightwards and only lean towards the approximate center of the car. Again, just barely not seeing your car should give you the right starting point.

From that point, you want to make small tweaks, correcting the mirrors so that, ideally, an average sized car leaving your rear view mirror one lane over should just start showing in the respective side-view mirror without shifting your view/turning your head.

With this sort of setting, you should have effectively no blind spot. I've had my mirrors adjusted like this since I was 17 and taught my friends, my mother, my friends' parents, etc. It has worked without fail on every car I have owned or driven (and I have driven a lot of cars for my age, many of which people have claimed have "blind-spot"/visibility issues).

A youtube video showing visually the approach

A Car and Driver article on the approach (apparently it's a recommendation by SAE!)

Take care

My 2SS has the blind spot detection system but it's not really relied on and it's the first car I've ever had that has it.

I just adjust my mirrors to where I can no longer see any of my car in them and have never had a problem with blind spots, Even in the loaner 1LT I had for over 2 weeks.
