I preferred the ZL1 Add-ons. It's beefy, labeled, and will do the job.
I hated the giant gaping hole, and it goes well with the red/red. The one in the OP's photo doesn't really look like it'll hold up, but I can't tell. Would hate for the piece to snap being pulled off a track.

Exactly. If you go off track, it's the easiest way to pull the vehicle out of wherever it may be. This seems to be attached directly to the frame of the vehicle, I believe the radiator support system.
It's not easy to get up underneath the car when it's sitting in a sand pit.
