You can get a brand new Camry for about $20k then.

You are comparing the camaro price with destination to the mustang price without it. Base mustang gt is $33,295 and with perf pack is 35,790 ( both with destination).

Comparing base to base and yes missed the destination charge on Ford's site do to deceptive advertising on Fords part. They dont add the destination charge in until after the second window to configure the car. Makes there car look cheaper ,but it's impossible to buy a car without a destination charge so why not just include it right away like GM does?

The real difference is $4,000. Thanks for catching that.

And a Mustang should be cheaper, look at it. #1
Mustang is the #1 sports car for females(no harm in that, but their is a reason it ranks here), reason #2
And I like to own a winner, reason #3
PS: Sit in the interior of a 2016 Mustang, if you like early 2000's styling then you are right, the Camaro is the worst and way overpriced.

The Camaro team didn't build this car to be the least expensive, this is a purpose built vehicle, not for everyone, but they did build multiple variations for different pricepoints from $25,000 for the 2.0T to $60k+ for the ZL1, they did it right.

Kill this damn trollbait thread already mods
Perhaps a solution would be to have threads such as these moved to the "6thGen Camaro vs." forum. They are very similar to the drag racing comparisons with an endless combination of variables affecting the outcome...

The Camaro and Mustang cars are not identical, and neither is the pricing....Shop around for the best deal you can find and get what you want in a car and can afford.

Good luck.

My wife and I ordered a 2015 Mustang GT Premium convertible last year. Of course I wanted the Camaro, but she preferred the Mustang so...

The Mustang's options were as follows:
6-speed automatic
20" wheels
Ruby Red Metallic Tintcoat
Premier Trim with color accent group
Reverse park assist
Navigation

Total MSRP was $46,995

One of the local Chevrolet dealers shows a 2016 2SS convertible on their website. The options on that car are as follows:
Interior Accent Package (Adrenaline Red)
Red knee pads
Navigation
Automatic transmission
NPP
Black bow ties
Footwell lighting

MSRP is $53,515

Now, it's hard to get an apples-to-apples comparison. The Camaro 2SS comes with HUD, which is not available in the Mustang. Also, the blind spot monitoring is standard, but is an extra cost option (part of the 401A package, $1795) on the Mustang. The NPP is another option not available on the Mustang.

To make it simple, I'll add $2,000 to the price of the Mustang for the 401A package and subtract $1,000 from the Camaro (NPP). That puts the Camaro at roughly $3,000 more than the Mustang.
Great comparison view - thanks for posting, even though some people aren't open minded enough to see that EVERYONE's input (regardless of what they drive) can be informative.

I've had no reason to visit, let alone post, over there since I test drove that turd.

There seems to be a lot of sympathy for Ford owners around here. I have no respect for anyone who buys Ford after the junk they've been putting out for decades.
Thats a little harsh but ok!

How do you feel about a company that took billions of dollars of government bailout money, concealed defective parts, delayed recalls and is facing continued federal investigation and civil lawsuits over the injury and deaths of dozens of people?

Because that's what GM is.

Best not throw stones in a glass house.

41k out the door '16 1ss M6, dual mode exhaust, mag suspension, black hash marks and bowties. Brembo brakes. sunroof. Rocky mount NC. Could have gotten the 15 for almost 10 grand less. But the '16 is just a totally diff car had to get it

That's a nice build. I am think of getting a 1SS with NPP and maybe Mag Ride if I think I can really notice the difference, which should get me OTD for under $40k.

How do you like the cloth seats? That is the only thing I am concerned about when going from my GEN5 2SS to GEN6 1SS.

GM borrowed the money, and repaid with interest. Meanwhile used that money to improve production standards, and have developed a line of cars that compete with the very best on the global stage. They owned up to the ignition switch debacle as well and have taken steps to insure it won't happen again. Big difference between what GM is and what GM was.

Oh and Ford has built their fair share of craptastic cars in the 80's and 90's as well, but then so did everybody.

Let's just hope that both Ford and GM keep up this strong healthy rivalry for many years to come. They both make great vehicles and push each other to do better. In the end, it is us, the enthusiast that wins.
