Proud New Owner w/ ?'s

Just picked up 2014 2SS BRM today (pics to follow), but have a couple concerns/?'s.
1. Are there aftermarket products that would help protect the plastic sill you step over when you get in/out? I have noticed kicking it when I get in and out. I know, just step over it to avoid scuffing it up, but will take some time to get used to it first, but in the meantime, any protectors to help in the mean time? Including the door, kicked it once or twice already (damn big feet).
2. Cleaning..don't have tons of free time, so I wash with a local drive thru car wash (very good/and safe), but feeling this could eventually damage the car. Anyone use car wash, or stick with hand washing?
3. Car came with the white rally stripe, wondering if anybody has claybar and waxed with one of these on their car. I wouldn't claybar the stripes, but putting new wax/sealer over the stripes...good or bad?

Thx for the help and input.....

I will tell you this, on here most people will say stay away from auto car washes. Second, try not to put any wax, or sealers on your stripes. Check out "Adams Polishes" they have a product cal VRT that will work great on your stripes. To answer your first question, yes they make a lot of products to protect that area of your car, you just have to look around.

Welcome, Hand was the car always or try to use touchless car washes, those things scrape the paint.. But touchless does not get the dirt off as well as hand at home gentle wash :3. GL

Some touch less car wash places use harsh chemicals to remove dirt. These could eventually fade your paint. I would recommend local car wash locations that will hand wash and dry your car for an additional cost.

Regarding the plastic sill cover, lift you feet.....sorry just a pet peeve of mine.

There are no sill protectors that I have found. They all get scratched up - just like all the plastic interior parts in our cars. I just ended up buying new. They're only ~$13 each plus shipping.

Regarding the car wash - it all depends on what your goal is. If you plan on keeping your car for years then I would stay away from all auto washes, both brush and brushless. The brush ones especially since they will kill your vinyl stripes at some point.

Welcome and congrats on your new ride!

Most of them also have a guide rail to position your car as you drive in. If you have the RS-type rims, YOU WILL GET scrapes on your rims! Lesson learned on previous Gen5.

For the door sills, maybe the 3M clear protector, like is used on the nose?
Washing with touchless car washes uses harsh chemicals. It can be done occasionally as long as you keep a good layer of clear coat and wax on it. I use the most basic wash on touchless to avoid more chemicals. Some will say to never do touchless.
For the stripes, sounds like Adams mentioned above is your best bet. Welcome and enjoy.

Congrats on the ride, maybe you could (temporarily" tape a piece of garbage bag so you don't mess up the sill. I know it sounds tacky but if it works, and it doesn't cost anything, it's worth a try.

Thx for all the info here.
Sticking with the handwash and once I get it claybar/sealed, will help a lot.
As for the door sill, learn to pick up feet and good to know replacements are cheap (get a couple for future).

Thx again
