I checked my local Chevy dealer and they have some bare bones SS 6th gens on the lot and the cheapest is around $46,000.
I don't care how much "better" the car is than the previous gen, Chevy has made it too expensive for a significant portion of Americans. Also there seem to be a lot of little issues with this being the first year of the 6th gen and all.

I ended up buying a 2015 1LE from my dealer last month instead of the 6th gen. It had 2SS, RS, Dual Mode etc and paid $39,000 out the door. I can't even imagine what the 2017 1LE is going to cost. My bet is 55-60 grand. Wait and see.
$46,000 is a fully loaded 2SS Camaro with manual transmission and not a bare bones Camaro, unless you are talking Canadian prices that dealer probably has market adjusted prices on their cars....

No doubt, some people are acting like it doesn't come with power locks and power windows like the old days, lol.

How are people paying 46k for a basic 1ss? I had a striped Mosaic Black 6spd lined up for 35.7k...but I went with a white 1SS with A-8, MR, NPP for 38.4k.

You had to have paid over MSRP. My 2SS with with A-8, MR, NPP, stripes, black rims, Nav & sunroof had a MSRP of just over 38.

My 0.02 cents....you do get a lot of value for your money in the camaro...but....there is a large proportion of the population that does not look as specifically at the higher end features as the folks on thie forum..For them, for a V8, they compare mustang to camaro...about the same performance (they don't track the car) about the same features, looks are subjective, both look good, but heres the kicker--you can oftentimes get a Mustang SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper because they have more discounts...While I know the camaro is better, its not THAT MUCH better to justify thousands more for real world prices (remember discounts)... I predict rebates coming for the camaro....

And a lot of people will go to Wal-mart to get their cheaper brands, and that is ok, it will keep the other stores less congested, lol (not that I don't ever shop at Wal-mart but you know what I mean)

My 2 cents is the people that buy these types of cars are looking for a cool, sporty performance car and if it isn't important to spend a thousand or two more for better technology, quality and performance, then that is their choice but it doesn't mean that the Camaro is over priced.

It's just not the very cheapest in it's segment and I for one am thankful that GM went the extra mile and didn't just go with the "same old, same old".
