Thanks for posting info, pics, results... sounds like a fun night. That's what it's all about win or lose. Maybe your buddy will run low 13s even more... I say 13.2?? Post results.

A stage 2 2.5l wrx with launch control running a 2.0 60' is absolutely horrid. That would be a bad launch for a stock one. It is not as easy as many think to launch those cars however, it does take some skill. The WRX transmission sucks too, perhaps he is afraid to slip and dump the clutch properly. The sti transmission and clutch are very potent though.

I will make a thread on here called "Camaro vs the world" and all the vids are hd quality. His best time was 13.0 @ 108 mph! My friend's intake/muffler delete 5.0 manual on 3.73's and drag radial did 12.95 @ 107 mph. On the 12.95 @ 107.0 run the Camaro SS did 13.2 @ 107.7! Great race! Will just take hours to upload all of it! |

They're both very capable cars. I prefer the older subarus because I think they look better and the interior is nicer, but the evo is a great car also. |

For every $1k in mods on an Evo, it takes $3k in mods for WRX to match it. Any knowledgable wrx owner will attest to this, I am a member of Oklahoma Subaru Crew. They all realize this but got back to "It's a DSM/Mitsu it will break" "Mitsubishi's are crap" "They don't sound as good" etc etc. |

I said it before. Anyone with a WRX pulling slower than 1.8 sec 60' doesn't know how to drive it. The guys that don't know how to launch the car usually bogg the launch and pull 2.0 - 2.1 sec range (which is terrible for a WRX or STi). I'll admit. I does take a little practice and balls to do it right. But if you launch a WRX correctly, it pulls 1.7 sec 60' times all day long (very lightly modded). I owned an STi and a WRX and with just bolt ons, I was pulling 1.6 - 1.7 sec 60' times. I also have a stack of over 200 time slips (stock clutch, etc). That was doing 5000 rpm drop clutch launches with hard compound tires (to get a little bit of wheels spin leaving the line - which helps build momentum) and protect the tranny. Sticky tires (on all 4 corners) will actually create slower launches (from my experience) in a WRX. You'll get too much traction and you'll bogg the launch. So it better to get some harder compound tires on all 4 corners for drag racing (for a stock to lightly modded/bolt on STi/WRX) . |

I will try to get one of my buddies in here, he owns one of the big remote tuning services for those cars and knows his stuff. In the meantime here is some info http://www.iwsti.com/forums/fastest-times-forum/ |

STi's are nice rides. I liked mine and it handled extremely well. It's a completely different driving experience compared to a RWD V8. I'm curious to see what the next generation STi will be like. In my MotorTrend mag (just got it yesterday), the 2013 WRX ran 13.5 @ 100 mph. That's pretty good for a car only making 265 hp. |
