If a regular (vehicle lead acid type) battery is discharged enough to not be able to start the car, it gets internally damaged and will never regain a full charge or full current capacity.

A deep cycle battery (like the yellow top) has thicker internal plates that don't get damaged if you drain it down, so it can recover a full charge repeatedly.

Optima Yellows and Blues (marine) are basically the same with different post configurations. Most stereo batteries are deep cycle as well.

Overcharging a battery is worse for it than draining it. That may be why you are having difficulty with it.

I had a buddy who put a tender on his rv for the winter and it boiled all of his batteries dry (had 3 in the RV) and killed them.

I don't believe in tenders at all actually. I think they do more harm than good.

I pull the ground off my car for the winter and then trickle charge it for a half day before I use it again. Never had issues.

Forget optimas. They are garbage. I went through 3 in my supra and they where complete junk. I switched to a braile and never had issues again.

Ive had the yellow top, they have dif ones tho. the little optimas arnt much for a system and like Decible JJ asked the first gens I had one and it only lasted a few months took it back and they replaced it for free and never had a problem again. Had 2 of the side/top post in my last car

i have a brallie 15lb in my car now and it lasted about 3 months and the car does not have a strong start up

You have issuses.. battery is not your problem, you have something draining it while it is sitting there. Id un hook your power wire to your amp.. if its still draining unhook anything else aftermarket like your halos scanners.. Try to think back to what was installed and when the problem started

all of my aac halos and aftermarket lights are on cut off switches...............the only thing i can think of that can draw power is my aftermarket double din radio system but is is wired into the stock harness

Id still un hook them even if they are on switches.. switches are known to go out and draw power, the switches with built in lights are really bad at that.

dam those are the switches i have can i just unplug everthing from the postive terminal? also i thought leds can run for hours and not draw any power?

I still have the factory Delco battery. 3 1/2 years, 58K miles, 3000W sound system and a DVR blackbox camera running 24/7. Only time I've had a problem was when I was working on the rocker bearings and valve springs it took a couple weeks since I didn't have a lot of free time to work on it. The black box ran the battery down, I charged it and haven't had a problem yet.
