The sales are slow because the car is ugly, it looks like a European sports car not an American muscle car.

I feel that the sales are low due to the fact that the cars are way over priced. I personally like the new design of the 6th gens, I feel like they are a lot more sportier, lighter and have a nicer interior. But for the price tag of a new 1SS you can get yourself a really nice used 5th gen Camaro and have a lot of left over money to mod the car. Or you can get yourself into a C6 corvette which in my book is a whole lot nicer car in general.

Sportier? Lol.. Well that's why they are having trouble selling because it looks like a sports car when it's a muscle/pony car. Corvette's is Chevy's sports car so there's the problem. And the interior don't look like they really spent anytime designing it because it looks plain compare to the 5th gen especially , the seats .

Yep ...when Chevy themselves put the sports car label on the Camaro I laughed for a bit. No on Camaro 6 those guys are calling it a sports car. Its in no mans land with no identity.

Lol.... Yea , I know ! And ppl wonder why the gen6 is selling so bad . Well Chevy has two sports cars now and the gen6 Camaro has Corvette styling ques. So basically it's a wannabe Vette now!

I saw a new ATS today with 2.0T badging and I thought "oh look, that's basically the same car as the Camaro underneath". I am not sure if that is good or bad.

I get that the Gen6's is a totally new car and a good car; the performance is impressive but the Gen5 is no slouch either. If price were no object, I'd love to have one (at least with the V6 though), but the Gen6's just doesn't feel "better" in enough ways to justify the price tag.
Those that say the V6 doesn't belong in a Camaro don't know what they're talking about. They have NO CLUE about the heritage of the Camaro.

The Camaro always had a 6-cyl engine as the base powerplant from its inception, either inline-6 or V6 in the later years, until '82 when the 4-cyl iron duke came out. Then in '86, or there abouts, the 6-cyl (V6) returned as the base engine option again.

Alpha is compromised and really a too small of a platform for a model like the Camaro. That's what happens when you have to "borrow" a smaller platform from another division because you squandered your development resources on SUV's and trucks for the last 20 years.

Even the 5th gen was a compromise by having to use the heavy full-sized Holden platform, but the heritage-based retro styling was a hit so that saved the car. The 6th gen, not so much. It's like the designers dropped the ball after the B-pillar in the Gen 6.

I think GM would have been better off by refreshing the 5th gen and lightening it up some. Then, they could have updated the powertrains like they did and sales would have been good, probably better than they currently are with the new Alpha based Gen 6.

That's non car people in general. Many don't know or care to know the differences in any car. They just see one they like and buy it. My wife was amazed first time we helped her but a car compared to way her family barely even negotiated.

Well said gringo. In October 2010, I bought a 2011 2ss/Rs for 32,900 drive out. The same car in 6th gen is 47 plus. I know six years ago but, 14k difference in price and the looks I don't care for either. A loaded V6 is still 4k plus more than what I paid for my SS. Just not worth it to me IMOP but,
to each his/her own.

Camaro Gen6 first Quarter Sales Results look Fantastic.
If this first Quarter pace result continues for the year, they will FAR exceed all Gen5 sales totals for each Year 2010 - 2015.
As I mentioned in above post, Camaro Gen6 is number one for April, outselling Mustang and Challenger.
2010: 81,299
2011: 88,249
2012: 84,319
2013: 80,567
2014: 80,567
2015: 77,502
2017: 96,140 <<< (estimate taking first quarter 24,035 results and multiplying by 4)

Exciting times, back in the 60's I never thought there would be a day when I would see a stock Camaro straight off the assembly line hit 200 MPH and handle like a Vette!
Am I missing something in the great sales figures being reported??? I'm seeing Gen6 most days on my short drive back and forth to work each day.
Seems like folks are doing the Jay slogan: "Buy all you want they'll make more" ;-)

Spring is always a busy time for new car purchases. Once we get into July and Aug lets look back on it and see how the numbers are.

I am not sure that pace will be sustained through Q3 and Q4, although I have been seeing some discounts recently, so if the price gets a little more in line, sales will likely be good. It's a nice car with a lot going for it if the price is in line.
