Pretty much a driver's race? They can both be had for pretty much the same price.

As you can tell I favor the SS

It was raining today, so the SS stayed in and the M3 was about running in the rain

someone's gotta do the dirty work. All said and done, I love them both...Very different driving experiences. Brute power vs refined handling. Will post better pics when weather permits. Lovin it so far. Permagrin

I had an e46 competition package and autobot kj said it well, torque vs handling. M3 was like a dart, point and shoot. Acceleration was no slouch either and revved to a screaming 8000 rpms. The camaro on the other hand has tons of torque but more of a handful in the twisties. In a straightline the Camaro will edge out the beemer. At the end of the day i would rather have the Camaro. I definitely have more fun with it and my car payments are a lot lower. Haha! I miss that beemer though........

I traded my 2002 M3 for the SS. For the curves you cant beat the m3. For straight line the SS is faster. My L99 is dead even with my friends E92 m3 in straight line performance. On a closed road on the base we were neck in neck up to 140.

BMW E46 M3 handling trumps the SS

SS acceleration is going to trump the E46 M3 unless it's been turbo charged

E90/E92 M3 is ok, but watch out for the E90/E92 335 turbo cars with the vishnu chips and mods, they are down in the mid 11's per 1/4 dragtimes.
