Magnetic ride control
I haven’t done much playing because it’s not broke in yet but I have played in some twisties and this magnetic ride control is impressive. I was not going to order it and the one I got ended on coming with it. It’s level and planted, it seems to never get flustered. This is a lot of fun.

One old comment I read said the biggest difference can be told driving a MRC then driving non-MRC. I’ve not driven a non-MRC SS but one MRC and my 1LE have been incredible

I didnt get MRC because I dont put a lot of miles so I had concerns about longevity. The ride is comfortable on the highway but can be stiff on low speed bumpy roads. But this is a sports car after all with the stock run flats @ 20' I think it makes it worse.
From a pricing perspective it would've made more sense to get the 1LE package than 2600ish for the MRC alone with 2SS, but I didn't find the Recaros comfy. Still handles like a dream.

I got the MRC just because it was already optioned on the 1SS I picked up in 2016 before the 2017s dropped, got 8k off the sticker price of $40,500, and after having it I wouldn't want to go back. Great steal for 32,500, minus the thousands I lost on trading my 2015 SS in. Ah, well. Got the better car IMO.
I love it so much I even program it in both Sport and Track mode, along with the NPP track exhaust. Makes the car ride so dang smooth. Love it. |

I was apprehensive about it because of reliability concerns, GM (Cadillac) played with this in the 80's and it was a disaster. Tech has changed and the 1LE I purchased came with it and it's amazing, nothing upsets it and it handles like a slot car, 39K and dead nuts reliable so far.

I had MRC on my '18 1SS vert and was amazed at the handling ... from a first timer's perspective. Unfortunately sold the vert. However, picked up a '23 1LE and it's part of the package. Absolutely love it especially in the twists.

It's a real treat for sure. Put it in Tour and it one of the more comfortable cars I've driven, even over small imperfections in the road(Our roads are quite good, but still I avoid any medium to large ones like a ninja, got them mapped out in my brain). Put it in Sport and you can have a bit of fun in the corners. Put it in Track and find out just how nice this car corners and everything is so smooth the whole way.

I honestly hope these magnetic shocks will hold up, I heard from several sources that their typical lifespan is 5 to 7 years. Great technology that works very well on the Camaro, too.

My 23 had the little sensor arm detach from the R rear control arm, that was not a great ride until I figured it out and reattached it. Otherwise I'd like tour to be a little softer on the highway. My 18 1LE before this was overall really great, too.

MRC is awesome but have not had good luck with it reliability wise. Had one replaced on my previous CTS with 14k miles if I remember correctly and even more shocking was my brand new 23' SS 1LE had it replaced with less than 2k miles. You can read my post history on this if interested. In both cases, tech said the shock had frozen. Whatever that means.
Hopefully my experience was just a fluke and they hold up better long term. |

I love the MRC, though I'd imagine NOT having it would be just fine too.
My dad had MRC on his 13 Corvette. He's in his upper 70's, and decided to sell. He and I took it to a cool spot so i could photograph it for the add and he let me drive. It was in Track mode and I said "whoa, dad tearing it up in track mode!" He said: What? ....I said track mode. He said track....what? Come to find out he had no idea what the MRC was, and has likely had it in track mode since the day he bought it!!!!! Cracked me up though! Don't think he cared as I know he loved that car. He kept it cleaner than his NB sneakers! |

I just noticed my passenger's side rear shock is, at least, showing weeping. I have less than 4K miles on it... Driver's side is clean as a whistle.
I am not pleased about it. I've read they can do that from time-to-time, and to clean the shock body, and check back a little down the road. We'll see...
