now that the camaro is done
when will we start to see any problems with parts like body interior or even engine? With a 1le zl1 I can see it happening soon-should we be stocking up on parts?

Is this a rhetorical question? I don't think anyone here would have a reliable answer, and those that do will not (be allowed to) post that info on a public forum...

I don’t see engine parts being a big issue. The CT5-V Blackwing and Escalade-V are using essentially the same engine and Chevy sells the LT4 as a crate engine.
GM has to make parts available to cover the warranty period. Let's say, for example, the last 2024 Camaro ZL1 is sold off the lot on July 1, 2024. GM would have to stock powertrain parts until at least June 30, 2029 to cover the five year powertrain warranty. And if there were any extended warranties sold, it would be even longer. I not too worried about parts availability for the forseeable future.

The reason I said what I did is because many special parts such as dark taillights began disappearing while their corresponding warranties were still alive and well.
I guess GM's supply chain optimization algorithm considers the volume as well, and the few thousand ZL1 1LEs and SS 1LEs that were sold don't justify keeping the parts pipeline fed with these parts, they may say "nah, eff that, if someone comes in with a warranty claim, we'll custom order that one part from a supplier and make the sucker who bought the car wait 2-3-4 months, who cares, we'll still be better off overall".

They also decided to limit the ZL1 1LE production and took what was left in the supply chain to give it to the Panther and Garage 56 editions. Vehicles are supposed to have all parts available for what? 10 years after production ends. If you're worrying about parts now, you are about 10 years too early. I honestly do not know of what parts you need to stock up on. How many ZL1s have needed parts replaced because they just broke while driving or sitting in the garage? It's the same logic as buying up all the toilet paper like people did when COVID was a thing. You know there was a 2017 ZL1 owner who drove her car over 220k miles before she sold it because she wanted something more econimical. She had 0 issues and only did the required maintenance. I've had my car since mid 2018, drive it as much as I can and road course it when I can and haven't had to replace anything except the tires and do the required maintenance. I've had some questionable "issues" but turns out that those were just things that every ZL1 does. |

I believe in the USA, auto manufacturers have to supply parts for 10 years after the model year.

I agree, there is no requirement to supply parts for 10 years. Generally, however, manufacturers will license or otherwise permit "after market" parts manufacturers to make replacement parts. Getting engine and suspension parts should not be an issue down the road. Body parts might be an issue though. IMO.

Worst case, the wreckers will have parts for a long time. They are stolen and banged up on a pretty regular basis.

Thanks for that.
By law, they do have to provide repair/replacement for the length of the warranty period though. That's at least 3 years otherwise they are subject to a lawsuit. Also, GM operates in a few countries. Some of those governments require manufacturers to to provide OEM spare parts for "x" amount of time (for example APAC and Australia). You might get lucky and be able to find the part overseas -- assuming the ZLE was sold in those markets. |

For me, the most valuable parts on the ZLE are the Multimatic DSSV and the Rear spoiler.
Everything else can be sourced via aftermarket. |
