For all you stick drivers...

what is the longest period of time you have driven with your stick?? not how long you have had it haha but the longest drive you have had?!

I am wondering because I am currently debating between manual or auto and the biggest factor is that I will have to be driving 8 hours one way every couple months. Im not sure if this a stupid question so please bear with me here!

Thank You!!

2.5 (5 hrs round trip) hours from Clearlake to Fort Bragg. It was nice on the hwy 175 curves for sure. However since you live where that awful hwy 101 bumper to bumper traffic is 24/7, auto might be best for you.

I drive an auto, but I would think it depends on what you're gonna use it for...

Do you have a lot of stop and go traffic? Will it be a daily driver?

I answered yes to both of those, so I went with an auto V6. Debating on going up to an SS2, but I'm afraid fuel costs will kill me, especially the way I drive...and I drive 80 miles round trip every day.

I drive for work, with an M6. I get traffic, at times. I've had a few trips that are longer than 4 hours, one way. It's no big deal.

8 hours driving from Rhode Island to Maryland. Got stuck in traffic in NY for a bit. Unless you are in heavy stop and go traffic for the whole 8 hours I'd say it's a non issue.

About 7 hours from LA to Reno left at night so there was no traffic. I agree with what was said above its a non-issue with no traffic.

I drive from the Everglades to work in Kendall FL and it takes me a 1 hour. I really don't notice am driving stick half the time, plus this is done with bumper to bumper traffic so I'm constantly shifting. Hope This helps with your decision.

Traffic is your issue, not how long a drive you have. I drove from Oshawa to Rhode Island.

definitely will depend on the stop and go part. If you are cruising, it is a non-issue.

Stop and go may kill you for 8 hours with a manual.

750 miles one way, from Iowa to Texas... 12 hours... Rear facing baby seat in the back with a passenger and luggage. The tranmission wasn't an issue at all, loved the M6! The car is excellent in long trips.

If your 8 hour drive is going to be all freeway, it will not matter much if you have a manual. Once you get up to speed, you put it in 6th and there will not be much need to shift until you have to stop for gas.
