2010 with mods or 2013 1LE

New guy here with some questions. I have tried to research, but with hundreds of pages of information(and I have read through a ton) and my search skills have not resulted in much substance. I have been looking at Camaro's recently after having to lemon law my current Hyundai.

My budget is around 35k, but I could go to 36k to get a 1ss with 1LE package. I can get GM supplier pricing on the 2013.

My question is about the differences between the years. I see in 2012 the interior changed from the 2010-2011 models. Where there any mechanical changes between the various years that would make a big difference? I see in 2013 the SS has electric power steering which should equal a slight HP bump.

I am contemplating getting a 2010 2ss for roughly 28-30k and then using the extra money on mods. Would probably start with suspension including coil overs, sway bars, and probably wheels and tires and go from there.

Im really not sure which way to go.

We'd say go for the mods. The 1LE is bad ass for sure but you can do a lot of damage with that extra cash at our store or any other forum sponser for that matter. A full exhaust, intake, coil overs and BMR suspension set up would be killer and should be under budget. Sports cars are fun but modding them is a blast!

You would

Depends on what you want. A modded 2010 has no wwarranty, a 1LE 2013 is a beast and has a full warranty. If you are like most of us you dont care about warranty though and snag the 10.

If I got a 2010 I was looking at doing PFADT coilovers and sways(probably their road race stage 4 kit), MGW shifter, American Racing headers, some type of catback, vararam and a tune. Would eventually put a Vortech on it and a cam(plus supporting mods).

My main concern was that I would be missing something that is in the 2011, 2012, or 2013 that the 2010 might lack. Like I said, the only thing I can figure is the 2012 got a revised interior and the 2013 got the electric power steering. I dont care about navigation or the mylink system in the 2013(or whatever its called) even though it was kind of cool in the 2013 2SS I test drove.

Ah ok differences...steering wheel, dash, mylink, rear view camera and sensors, electric steering, rim options, major things I can think of off the top of my head.

not worried to much about the warranty since I would like to mod it anyway and I have been reading that GM is not being very, how should I say, generous, with their warranties on the new ones anyway. I mean trying to claim a cold air intake is causing oil pump issues. Same ol' GM though I guess.

The other car I have been looking at is a 2008 Corvette so, no warranty there either.

yea I know pretty much everything about the 1LE as I have done most of my research about it. Then I just got to thinking I could get a 10 or 11 2SS and mod it and have an overall better car for pretty much the same money. I mean I would have 7-8k $$$$ to mod a 2010.

You do get the 3.91 gears with the 1le. i have the the suspension done on mine but the 3.91 gears would help it out.

I would say 2013 1LE over the modded 2010
with the 1LE you know what you are starting
with versus the modded car. Could be hidden

Im not going to buy a pre-modded car, im going to buy a stock car and mod it myself so not to worried about it from that aspect.

Just really didnt know if I was missing anything by going with a 2010 vs. 11 vs. 12 vs. 13 besides the stuff I already knew about. Kind of like the Corvette's in 2001+ came with quite a bit better LS1 motor than the 2000 and prior LS1 motors, but unless you REALLY knew Corvettes you wouldnt know that.

Is the 12+ interior THAT much better than the 10/11 interior?
