What's confusing about it? The 2014 ZL1 will have the 2013 front and the 2014 rear, the style taillights will depend on if you get the RS package or not. Non RS will have standard Tail lights of the 2014 cars and ZL1s with the RS package will have the Led ones.. Same as any 2014 with the RS package.

...whats confusing is ambiguity....there is no clear cut discern what the look and final product will be, only speculation, conjecture, and opinion by the other poster and you, as it's a matter of fact. We must wait to see if the tail is SS or Z/28 oriented. Clearly there is a difference between the two.

You are more talking about the rear diffuser then... I bet it will be a ZL1 only design...not base, or SS and not Z/28

..and as you yield to my post, do the research to find the mention of information here on C5 that states such fact about the change. It's there, sometimes people don't read everything in the post or newsflash.

Only thing I have read is where Fbodfather said the ZL1 would have the 2014 rear but keep the old front because of aero and cooling needs...no other specifics.

SS has nothing to do with the different tail lights, it's the RS or non RS, I think you can get the ZL1 with or without the RS package. So either design should be on the car based on if you get the RS package or not.

The ZL1 comes with most of the RS equipment standard.

That's cool.
I was incorrect the ZL1 does come with all the RS equipment. I had thought it was optional.. My mistake.
So I assume all ZL1s will have the LED tail lights.

2014 ZL1 will also have optional Recaro. I would imagine this would be available on the convertible as well. Plus the other little ameneties like color DIC and I would imagine some sort of hybrid rear bumper similar to the Z/28 but since it doesn't have fender flares, it may be mudflaps again? Have to wait and see.

I could care less about 2013 MY ZL1 being the only year that way. It'll be just as value-added as the non-backup sensor 2010s with chicklets. I'm saving for a 2014 ZL1 'vert, hopefully with Recaros...exterior color still undecided.
