By those stats the GT is giving up a lot of handling to the Z06. To the ZL1, handling looks closer but edge ZL1. Would come down to driver on that one.

It's a Dingledarm. It's there to dampen side fumbling. If your marzelvanes fumble too much they can cause total protonic reversal. It gets ugly from there. This is really the biggest problem with the new Camaro. That and the tri-pronged blivot.

Straight up handling the zl1 will definitely hold the advantage, but with the HUGE acceleration difference and the obvious braking advantage, I have a hard time swallowing that the zl1 is going to win on most tracks. The ZL1 is going to carry more speed through the turn, but the gt500 can accelerate way faster and maintain that speed longer before turn-in with better braking.

Guess I haven't seen that thread yet. Have a quote?

I think the only comparisons have been in the HP department. Everyone over there knows that mid/high 10's beats mid/high 11's every day.

The new GT500 is competition on a drag strip for a Z06. Not on a road course, but I think it will be a drivers race on the drag strip. It's already trapped @ 129 MPH which is indeed Z06 territory.

It can be compared to the ZR1 though, as it's a 200+ MPH car. If you're looking to hit that mark, there's nothing even close to the price of a GT500 that can get you there.

For 55K you get a 200 mph showroom stock Mustang. That's pretty insane guys, I don't think there's any rebuttal to that.

The Z06 is faster than the GT500 but your right it is close enough to make for a great drivers race. The 129 was spinning which is not the safest way down the strip. I would love to see the GT500 dr vs z06 dr race!

It's insane to put a whole lot of value in the top speed number of a car, given you'd need a mile or two to reach it, yes I agree...

I think the GT500 and the Zr1 are tight competition.. based off of numbers of course.

I just hope the GT500 holds a better value than the Zr1. Its really upsetting to see those $120,000 corvettes going for $75,000 2 years later.

and you hope the GT500 holds its value better, but you're upset about the ZR1 values... at least you're in the right thread..

(show me a 2 year old ZR1 for 75K...)
