Adding homelink to the Z/28

I am all for saving weight but i dont own a hand held garage door transmitter any more, wast week want and go one, programed to work on the garage door at home, all is good NOT.

when you set it in the tray and you do a 1.0 right hand turn it ends up under you foot, and when your driving that is not good.

So today we ordered the the new overhead console with home link, going to get this in the z and get back to all of you on the install.

Agree. And if you put the garage door opener in the cup holder . . . and you then place a cup in the cup holder . . . and the cup pushes the garage door button . . . and the garage door goes down . . . and your car is in the way . . . you wake up real quick.

I added it to my Z28. Only thing I wish I ordered was the connector. You need a 3 prong connector yet it only requires power and a ground.

Ofer, are you going to install this in the White or Black Z/28, or both of them.

Not normally. That would require your phone to be able to transmit on the same frequencies as your garage door opener.

Think outside the box. Several companies now sell devices that you install onto the opener that have phone apps to do it. I-smart gate is one of them.

Alternatively you can make your own that operates via bluetooth from your phone or even the car if you got that option. Simply solder in a bluetooth receiver to the garage door opener.

Hell, you can even wire one in to actually remote start the car from your phone too.

I couldn't find a GM listing for the connector. I found the exact connector from a 2008 Montana van from the junk yard. Fits perfectly.

Ofer, how did the install go on the Homelink? I'm interested in adding this to my 1SS.
