LGX Wideband locations
I am looking at increasing the monitoring on my LGX for upcoming modifications and wideband AFR is definitely something I want to see. I notice that a lot of people only have one wideband AFR gauge. However it looks like GM actually has four oxygen sensors on their system.
Is there much variation between the banks on the V6? Do you think it would be beneficial to add wideband AFR monitoring on both sides or to monitor one side and let the OEM system monitor both as it was designed. I am looking at the PLX Devices DM-100 multigauge to monitor all the information in one place. (http://www.plxdevices.com/PLX-MultiG...sors-s/108.htm) Thank you. |

Its tough its a tight fit between the cats and the exhaust exit on the block. My first location was after the primary cats. Which will give you a little bit of variation from true because your cats are obviously burning off excess fuel however @ WOT it doesnt matter much. Now I have it right back by the xpipe which I have mixed results with. In a ideal world you would put a wideband in each pipe and monitor both.

The LGX has 2 upstream O2's (the first in line after the exhaust) that monitor A/F narrow band. This provides data to the ECU as far as richness. The other 2 are further down the exhaust after the cats and it provides only data to indicate the cats are working.
If your adding a wideband, then you need to add an additional bung for the wideband O2 sensor for the gauge you choose. (most come with it all including the bung). You could add a second gauge and sensor to the opposite bank as well, but not much benefit in doing so. What mods are you considering? Look at our E2-X system for the LGX like Polynesian Powerhouse has. Cheers! |

Thanks for the info. I have yet to crawl under the car to check it out yet.
One of the appealing things about the PLX unit (and possibly others) is that it replaces the OEM sensor with a wideband sensor, then uses a unit that provides a wideband output for your monitoring and also a narrowband output for the ECU. Elite Engineering, I am looking into supercharging my car. |
