While I also agree the 1LE is the best choice, I have to disagree with the road noise. This is the loudest car I've ever owned. First hand experience showed that a Cayman is more quiet as far as road noise is concerned. I'd expect the 1LE to be one of the loudest options.

I've only test driven two 1LE's a couple miles, but from that short exposure I could tell the 1LE is quieter than my C6.

I have driven my 2018 ZL1 1LE abouth 600 miles on the street now. It is much smoother on asphalt roads then concrete freeway but other than that no issue on the street. Fun Awesome car. I love it much more than I did my 13 I hadName: IMG-0839.jpg

Interesting. C&D measured 74 DB at 70 mph in the 1LE and 76 in the Cayman. The ZL1 which has no sound tube was 69 DB. I measured 70 DB at 70 mph on my phone.

It's much quieter on the highway than my Mazdaspeed 3 was.

I saw where Car and Driver found 74 DB in the SS which is more quiet than a 1LE. And your phone on a different road isn't apples to apples.

True that, however the 997 will have lost the cost of a new SS 1LE in depreciation by the time it's worth $35k

An SS is not necessarily more quiet than a 1LE. It has runflats which are louder than a conventional tire. Anyway, see attached.

Mine is a daily driver and what I will say is the road noise is pretty bad depending on the surface, especially bad if you're trying to talk via bluetooth/car play. Literally my only complaint with the entire car is the handsfree quality/volume. Granted this doesn't matter on the track, but for someone who is on the phone a lot for work, I usually end up using the headphones because the cabin noise is so loud it's very hard to hear and many people I am speaking with can't hear me clearly. That's literally my only complaint with this car. Everything else, especially the fit and finish blows away anything within it's price range.

1LE on the street

Having owned an older 997 and Boxter and a 2014 Cayman and currently a 718 Cayman, My 2018 1LE is a fabulous car for the street. The ride quality is better than the new Cayman. You won't be the least bit sorry with the 1LE. I also have a New Challenger TA 392. It's a completely different experience. More fast beach cruiser.

Stock mag ride is as good or better than any 996/997 equipped with PASM/Ridetronic (or whatever the precursor to PASM is) than I've driven.

DSC Sport controller will do wonders as well.
