UPDATE ON KATECH STAGE 2

So, my buddy ending up getting his car from Katech. The quality of the work was A1. He loves it! He did some 60-130 times but it is very cold here in Michigan. He couldn't really hook on got a 6.9 second. Im sure he can aim for a good 6.5/6.6. But overall he has satifised with the outcome.

Wait, so you complained for him before he even got the car in his possession?

Glad we had the whole smear thread for kicks.
(Not exactly the OP's fault, to be fair)

Aldoun, why didn’t you simply add this update to the thread you started about your buddy’s car? It only makes sense to have it there.

6.9 sec 60-130 equates to about 134.5 mph in the 1/4 mile. That's 760-780 crank hp for a full weight ZL1. If he was spinning and lost a couple of tenths then it could be slightly higher. I'd say he got the hp that he was told (Katech said in the other thread they advertise this as a 750 hp package). The cold air certainly helps improve the power figure as well due to the low density altitude.

Above 600 rwhp I think traction becomes the real issue, at least at lower speeds. 750+ hp is great but if you need drag tires to hook up it's doesn't mean much (on the street)

The modded AWD cars are posting amazing 0-60 times

I agree here, all the power in the world means little if you can't get it down.

I am that friend in question.

First and foremost, Katech was extremely professional and provided me with the right information always. I knew what I was getting myself in to by going to Katech, yes I paid more than some other find reasonable but none the less it was my decision to spend the extra coin.

Initially the 600RWHP sounded underwhelming given I wanted to go the Magnuson 2650 Route for similar cost, but my mind completely change as soon as I did my first pull. The tune was extremely dialed in and drives like stock; except for when I get on it.

Waiting for the spring to really test the car but did some runs in 39° weather and got some good results: (keep in mind the stock are results from warm days and would hook)
Stock 60-130: AVG: 7.9-8.1s Best: 7.73s
Modded 60-130: AVG: 7.2s Best: 6.99s. (39° michigan weather)

Stock 1/4 Mile: 11.2008 @ 126.06 MPH
Modded 1/4 Mile: 11.30 @ 127.22 MPH. (Done with 200LB passenger, had to let off and get back on it. Stock tires as well)

In summary, I don’t regret a dollar and i’m absolutely in love with how it’s performing compared to other cars supposedly making more power. I’d assume I can get the car down to at least a 6.8 60-130 maybe better who knows. And expecting to trap atleast 131mph. My previous best trap stock was a 127.20 in the quarter mile.

Thanks to everyone at Katech!

$6K doesn’t seem unreasonable for me especially with a warranty. RPM in Garner, NC charged me $4K to get 625RWHP in my CTS-V. Lean tune burned up 2 pistons and they charged me $2K to sleeve the block and return the vehicle to stock. Great guys………NOT

Not to be confused with the RPM in… Delaware? I think? Maybe CT?

Correct. Lots of folks DBA RPM which is why I always include ‘in Garner’. Dirt bags that nearly cured me of the mod-bug. It took my Callaway engine failure to finally cure me. No more cars w/o a warranty.
