I seem to recall him saying tenths of a second don't matter...12.3, 12.5...

I love all the hoping for worst case scenario and rounding up on this and telling half the story on that, giving false weight differences, adding mods and voiding warranties...leaving details out... etc etc
Plain and simple. Look at the specs. Look at the power to weight. Look at everything. It is so obvious. This is the fastest AND best handling car money can buy for under 40k. End of story. Now lets hear some more crying and excuses and unfair arguments.... The past couple days have been so entertaining I couldn't have asked for more! thanks again GM |

I'm impressed with these numbers. They are on par with an m4 and makes my choice to get one easy. Good job GM!

its not under rated the new sae standard in place since 2004 wont allow it. It is voluntary and the scat pack is certified. The power is witnessed by an engineer from sae as well as Chrysler. Its simply not possible. And their is no reason for it. this isn't the 60's and no ones car is special. go ahead and try to extrapolate and guess from a dyno that has so many variables. Air pressure, how tightly the car is strapped down, calibration, temps...its endless. Even same car pull to pull changes by ~5 rwhp sometimes. Ive watched it with all my own cars. Heck they did a "money pull" with my car and let it cool down made 10 more rwhp. Its a tuning tool. Sounds a lot more accurate than an engine dyno witnessed by sae and the given manufacturer I know. https://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/details.htm explains the process and third party witnessing. argue it all you want. these are the facts. btw not sure what you were saying earlier about 600lb difference. Scat pack is like ~4100 and lightest ss is ~3700. That's 400 lbs not 600. Quote:
This is a tenth from the fastest stock scat pack time ever recorded even from private owner. The scat pack 12.1 run is negative DA and corrects to 12.2. GM rated the ls3 SS at 12.9. It ran a 12.5 private owner hero run. Anyone who thinks this 12.3 is the fastest the car will go is simply sour and or in denial. regardless the same day same strip head to head will show the true story against the scat pack. then we can listen to more excuses. I correct the underrating myth just about every chance I get. I just get tired of the arguing etc... The SS will be faster a8 vs a8 but should be fairly close. The scat pack is the only real competition left in the price range for the 1/4 mile. The mustang is complete toast. But if its 6 speed SS vs scat pack a8 will be dead heat. Don't they run ~12.5-6 in most mags/testing? ~114 trap? A 6 speed SS will have its hands full with a scat pack a8....better be a heck of a driver. Will be very very close. M6 vs M6 another obvious win for the SS. |

I am amazed that the "underrated" "factory freak" ideologies still exist....over 10yrs later.

Scat Pack A8's are consistently hitting 12.3 bone stock on a prepped surface.
I'm hopeful the g6 a8 will do a little better given the same conditions. |
