I just picked my car up this past weekend; it's a slightly used 2013. So I've been messing around with all the PTM modes and what not. In Mode 5 Race, it says that Active Handling is OFF, but this morning when I tried it in 2nd gear some stability system was still there to keep the car in check after if got a little sideways. If the stability system is still on, why does it say OFF for the Active Handling in Mode 4 and 5? Again sorry if I'm being a noob or beating a dead horse here.
Congratulations on your new vehicle! What do you love about it so far?

I think you experienced the traction control kicking in, not stability control...which is off in mode 5.

All 5 modes have varying levels of intervention...and you could almost describe them by the distance the system will let the back end slide out. 5 is the race mode, launch control is designed for prepped surfaces, and it will allow the most craziness before traction control intervenes...but at the end of the day, 5 is still an assisted driving mode.

I pulled this off a press release last year, it may be helpful:

Quote:
Mode 1 – Traction control set for wet conditions, with stability control on and Magnetic Ride Control set on Tour.
Mode 2 – Traction control set for dry conditions, with stability control on and Magnetic Ride Control set on Tour.
Mode 3 – Traction control set on Sport 1, with stability control on and Magnetic Ride Control set on Sport.
Mode 4 – Traction control set on Sport 2, with stability control off and Magnetic Ride Control set on Sport.
Mode 5 – Traction control set on Race, with stability control off and Magnetic Ride Control set on Track. Launch control tuned for VHT-prepped drag strips.
Keeping in mind there is much more to PTM than traction and stability control...it also has the ability to modulate engine torque through fuel and timing, among other things.

It was designed to keep the driver in control.....how much control differs between modes 1 to 5.
