On my Sierra Denali (no longer own) you could put the vehicle in reverse, with tilt feature on, and adjust where the mirror moved to. It was not an automatic feature so much as a programmable feature.

It's a Dingledarm. It's there to dampen side fumbling. If your marzelvanes fumble too much they can cause total protonic reversal. It gets ugly from there. This is really the biggest problem with the new Camaro. That and the tri-pronged blivot.

Seems like a feature for more urban than rural buyers. In LA it's a amazing feature.

Hmmm.....ok, let's put this into perspective. let's say you back into a parking spot with a curb on one side(amongst many scenario), would you rather eat up your rim or let the mirror point down and over to show you the curb in relation to the tire?....theyre also not used to see behind you, that's the REARview, they're SIDE mirrors for a reason plus what the other guy said, backup camera. Everyone has fun trying to leave my grandmas without moving mirrors lol her driveway is such a hassle.

What do semi drivers use to back up their 18 wheeler with a 50 foot trailer on it into the loading dock? THEIR MIRRORS!

Who ever thought tilting down the sideview mirrors is the proper way to back up a car should have their head examined.

I can back any car into any space by having my mirrors properly adjusted - to the back, not down to the ground!

Guess what - I can see a curb long before I even start backing into any space I'm backing into because I assess the whole thing before I put it in reverse....... I was driving my Grandfather's 1985 Cadillac Eldorado when I was 13...... he taught me how to use the sideview mirrors in a car with blindspots and a tiny rear window that makes the Camaro's blind spots look like child's play.

Sure, I've been able to back up car and horse trailers, parallel park cars and trucks before without seeing a curb, but having them tilt down will be a nice addition... it's not a "must have" to get the job done because as you said, we've been doing it for ages, it's just another tool.

And now that the car has the recently mandated backup camera, it will make the job that much easier. Can you do without? Yep. (Same has been said for almost everything, like automatic transmissions).

My point is maybe not for you and me, but these aides are making people lazy and unskilled drivers. There will be a contingent of drivers who grow up using these aides as if they are their priority instead of an assist. Just like all the other assists.

Were you the guy that complained when they started making passenger side door mirrors standard and not optional equipment?

Things evolve. Tech evolves. Rearview cameras are now mandated by law. I'm all for making things easier.

It's not like a mirror tilting down to assist one backing back up requires the same skill as a finely done heel-toe downshift in a decreasing radius turn with cars inches off the driver and passenger doors, without revmatch. (Or, commuting in Boston)

Nothing of the sort, it just means I don't have to guess as much. I'm good with that. This way, I can take a selfie of me backing up like a boss while holding up my macchiato.

Sooner or later, it's going to be like any of the other mfrs where it just does the parallel parking automagically.

I don't trust a computer to parallel park my car..... I know computers. I work with computers. I hate computers.

All I need is for the computer to malfunction and my Camaro barrels into the '84 Escort behind me.

I will parallel park my car my self just fine, thank you.

Thanks for the tip about setting the third button. On my car half the time it was going to that setting after the reverse feature.
