There is a name for people that do this kind of thing.

It's called being a poser.

SO, back to the topic at hand..I myself, am not a Mustang aficionado, SO say someone was to add a GT badge to their regular ol' Mustang. It wouldn't mean a THING to me, so same goes for Camaros right? the only one you're fooling is yourself and those who DON'T know better(like US!) , so WHY do it???

I honestly don't care if people make their cars fake. I may laugh a little, but I have way more important stuff to get worked up over.

More of an embarrassment to the person. Reward/risk doesn't make sense. A regular person doesn't care about the difference between a GT and a V6 will not be impressed by the GT; while a person who does care enough about the difference will notice the deception. So, in reality you're not impressing anyone. Just embarrassing yourself.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned what first popped into my head reading some of these.

Some people do blatantly down or up badge their car - but when it comes to something as simple as an RS badge on the back of a non-RS car - maybe the dealer did it after they slapped on a ground effects kit or any other dealer installed accessory.

Sometimes the dealers are as ignorant about this stuff as any of us.

Actually... back when the redesigned 2005 Mustang came out and there was a shortage of GTs, dealerships were dressing up their V6s to look like a GT... putting on front grill, fascias, dual exhaust... only thing they left off was the GT badges.... then they would park them prominently out front to lure people in! SHAMEFUL!!!!!
