Oil pump alignment

I am doing a cam install on my 2020 SS, and I may have made a critical mistake. I have been doing all of this without removing the oil pan. My mistake would be fully removing the oil pump bolts for timing chain wiggle room without any sort of alignment tools. What are the alignment tools for? Are they for the pump-pan Oring, or the pump-block face. I’ve noticed (from pictures on the internet) that the block-pump seal doesn’t use any gasket or o-ring. So I’m wondering how screwed I am. Do I need to drop the pan and get ready to buy a new pump?

Not sure if it matters, but I did not actually remove the pump, just the bolts. I’m sure it is possible the pump could have shifted, however.
