1 Year Owning a 2014 Camaro...
Today marked 1 year of owning my 2014 1Lt RS 6 speed... I was driving home from work and after a red light at about 15 mph my engine blew and caught fire.. luckily i was able to run across the street to rutters, punch out an extinguisher, and put it out rather quickly. My car has only 20k miles and has been regularly serviced by chevy. Has anyone else had any issues with the lfx? I purchased all the extended warranties but im still nervous that they will ridicule me for my lead foot if they pull the ecm.

Man that sucks. But i haven't heard of any issues like that with the LFX. As long as an installed accessory did cause the fire warranty should cover it. I wouldnt think you having a lead foot would cause the warranty to go away.

Yeah I hope not.. all I've done is the exhaust, Hurst line lock, Hurst short throw shifter, nitro stick II, and xd bushings. I've just heard a stories that people have been denied warranty work since they drove to fast and hard.

As long as you operated the vehicle within its factory set standards (ecu) you having a lead foot will not effect the warranty

It wasn't the srs... I literally pulled through a light.. lost power to the engine... felt like all my tires went flat.. then the engine bay started to smoke. Popped the hood and there was all fire on the driver side of the engine above the exhaust. I could see a trail of fluid to though..it honestly looked like gasoline though.

Good luck man. Wonder what blew. Fire almost sounds like fuel line let go. Any mods to the engine bay?
Take any pics? Glad you got out! |

No mods there.. hopefully that is all it was. But even yet I'm sure they'll need to replace some wiring :/

I'm really curious now Demon War Horse if that isn't what it was. I'm really hoping so... that would make things a lot easier.
