ZL1 SUPERCHARGER

Besides putting my car on a Dyno, Are there any other ways to tell if my supercharger is really working? These are the performance mods I've done so far, (FULL LPE 650 HP ENGINE KIT, KOOKS 1 7/8” LONG TUBE HEADERS WITH KOOKS CONNECTION PIPE WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HOOKED UP TO NOWEEDS LS3 EXHAUST DIVERTERS, REVISED INTERCOOLER PUMP WITH KDI HEAT EXCHANGER.)

Fuel Injections promised me up to 15LB boost, my boost gauge never goes past zero. When do I get to see the results of all these mods? I'm not really feeling it.

How can I tell if my supercharger is really putting out any power?

Look at the four little gauges under your radio. The top, right side one in particular. Your supercharger is doing its thing any time the little needle goes past the zero indicator. lol

It's the bottom right gauge, but yes.

Does the gauge move at all?
When cruising, the gauge is normally all the way to the left. As you press on the gas, the needle should move towards zero or the middle of the gauge.

Now plant the loud pedal to the floor and hang on. Boost doesn't normally start in till over 3000rpm give or take at which time you should feel the get-up-and-go-like-hell as well as see the boost gauge head to the right side of the gauge indicating how much boost you're making.

..yes it was...LOL. the gauge does move when the boost kicks in, but....your eyes need to be on the road to wheel the car at WOT and not look at the gauge. At least thats the way it's supposed to go.

If you read my post in its entirety, you would have noticed that I actually mentioned in there that the boost gauge has never moved past zero. I went up almost 5000rpm on 1st gear while a friend of mine kept an eye on it. it went up to zero and that was it.

And you figured all that out from my post?

For your information, I've never really noticed it until my friend mentioned it to me. And you are absolutely right. My eyes need to be on the road when driving. And you should put in an application for a position with U.S. DOT. The Obama administration could really use a guy like you right now.

You say 5000 rpm in first.. Just making sure the car was moving right?

You won't see any boost revving it at idle.

Peeling off brother...

Ok. the complete scenario!

My friend and I went for a cruise around town. He mentioned that the Boost gauge wasn't moving past zero. I peeled off topping 5000 on first. Still nothing. He thought maybe one of the hoses wasn't attached properly. We removed the engine cover and checked all the hoses, but everything looks fine, so idk.

Make sure the bypass valve isn't stuck open! A scan tool will show if you really are in boost. Faulty gauge possible, faulty wiring, something unplugged, or you really aren't in boost.

All in all, putting it on a dyno is the easiest way to verify your power. I know you were looking for another way, but when it comes right down to it, a dyno run is best.
