Axle Upgrade

I was wondering I have a 5th gen camaro its a 2012 camaro 2ss 45th anniversary and the axles are starting to go out. I was wondering if I would be okay to get the DSS 1000hp axles or to go with the gforce ones. I was just wondering because the price difference is crazy. I would be able to afford the dss axles but I dont want those to break easy. I didn't know if anyone had them and could tell me if they were any good.

If you're stock, just get new OEM versions. No need to go big right away. DSS axles are also very good if you want to go that route

DSS are, to my knowledge, excellent aftermarket upgrades and much more stout then GM axles. Now you have my interest piqued over GForce ones.

I have the exact axles you are looking at. DSS makes quality pieces, the axels are plug and play., You will not have any noise or vibrations with these pieces. From my point of view, spend the money once, if you go stockers, they want to upgrade, well you get my point. BTW totally nice people to talk with at DSS

GForce has Renegade and Outlaw levels vs DSS 1000hp and 1400hp. GForce is more expensive, but you might have been comparing 1000hp to Outlaws if the price difference was over $500. I'm not sure GM is still selling SS axles. They sure aren't selling 1LE or Z28 axles any longer.

I have the DDS 1000hp axles in my 2010 SS. They have been in for a few years. If anything goes wrong with them, the warranty is really good.

DSS customer service is great also. My last GTO had DSS axles when I bought it. One actually failed on me. I called DSS and explained. I paid for the shipping and they covered the repair cost. That's great service to a second hand owner.

DSS makes 1400HP axels as well. Their company logo "We Specialize In The Impossible" that pretty much says it all.

Yea, they are cool to deal with. I don't have their axles, DSS, but I do have their 3.5 inch aluminum 1 piece DS and I really like it, very well built, and their axles are next, before I do break a stocker. Hope not.

I have an automatic ss and bought some cheapies from rock auto .com and they sounded worse then my wore out 153k mile stockers. There was clicking sounds and a clunk sound when put in drive to reverse or vise versus. It confused me because it made the sounds from day one after putting them in, so I thought it was coming from somewhere else.

So anyway after doing some research I found out that the ac delco passenger side (right) for an automatic car is discontinued for some reason. So then I found out that the ss automatic and manual cars use the same axle. Then I found a set of ss manual tranny ac delco's at summit racing and snagged them. Just let me say that the ac delco's are far superior to the OTHER brands out there. They are very high quality and as soon as I installed them there was no more clicking or clunking sounds anymore.

So if you want a set of high quality stock axles then I would only recommend the oem ac delco brand. They are quite expensive as they should be at around $400 per axle but they are worth it. Just wanted to let you know of my experience.

GM OEM/DSS/GForce are the only way to go IMO.

Just be prepared if you decide to go with DSS or G-Force, there is a 8-12 week lead time to get those unless you find a retailer that actually has them on the shelf.

I put a Chinese axle in my truck years ago and it did not last long. When I took it apart, there was no grease in it. Last time I bought one of those.

GForce built me a set of axles last summer in a couple weeks for Camaro Fest X, but that was to help me out because I broke an axle right before the event. If you have a deadline, call them directly. They might be able to work with you. It was full price, but no rush charge.

OE axles and Hendrix offset differential bushings you’ll be set to throw anything at it.
