Regardless of what a blueprinted LS7 will make, there is a little chance this car will be unrestricted. Heck, the 414hp M3 run gigantic restrictors in GS!

Joe Plumber will see and hear the words "Camaro". The enthusiest will see and hear much more. Joe Plumber will hear "Camaro wins" and his interest in purchasing a car that "wins" big races will go a long ways.

I cannot wait to see the 28R run on the track, in traffic. I want to see the power to the pavement and see how nibble the big boy can move.

Thank you and I will be tuning in to check this out. Not a fan of the graphics but i'm stupid like that. I know it's a racing car and this is why they have them, just don't like to see a car so jammed up.

Joe Plumber will be probably buying a Camaro ZL1. IMHO. Won't find a Z/28 with a roll cage and all the other sanctioned stuff. But he will get that air conditioned Street Freak... Once he gets in the showroom, the ZL1 will be his best performance choice available. Based on production limitation that have been announced. But I am sure he won't mind "settling" for a measly ZL1. Just hope when you see the Stevenson version you don't think that's what the factory version will be doing@!

I cannot believe Grand Am sanctioned this car for the series. The previous Boss 302R had to run with a restrictor and RPM limit to compete. To allow a car that has a serious torque and HP advantage into the series boggles my mind. You can bet other teams, not just the Mustang teams will cry, nay SCREAM!, foul. Even the 414 HP BMW had restrictions on it.

Good for GM that the car was allowed to compete, but bad overall for Grand Am to allow the car in with many obvious advantages. I can't wait to read the rules to see how badly they hammer it with restrictors and penalties.

I'm curious as to which engine they will run. Aren't they restricted to a series size and HP? I'm sure they won't run a full 427 CI car against 302 Mustangs? I just really have no clue? Are they the 5.5 as in the C6R cars? I wish I knew more about the series.

They will be running the LS7 according to the announcement.

The Z/28.R is also powered by the same LS7 7.0L V-8 engine as the production Z/28 and employs the unique, helical-gear limited-slip rear differential found on the production model. It is standard in the Z/28, helping the driver put down more power to the pavement when exiting corners.

Who says the LS7 won't be restricted?

I am sure they will make it fair. Winning with an unfair advantage is what a sanctioning body is designed to eliminate so I would expect that they have limited the LS7 significantly. HOWEVER, seeing that sweetheart in race clothes makes me want it even more.
