I actually took the time to read that dreary post, and just can't understand why the op would go through so much effort to expose his disdain for the Camaro. Could it be he likes to see his inner thoughts displayed for all to see? I think not. I suggest he is really a Chevy hating Ford owner in disguise. Otherwise, if you don't like the car, just sell it. We don't need to hear about it.

my 2013 SIM chips like crazy too, but i dont blame it on the paint itself. SIM is a beautiful color,it really stands out and turns heads, its that GM doesnt give the attention in the paint department that these cars need. "They" know, just like everyone here knows that "1 coat" of paint and clear does NOT make for a durable paint job. if little bugs can chip the paint while diving, then its obvious that the paint is too thin. GM really pays attention to the details on the rest of the car, why do they not make sure that the paint matches the workmanship that the rest of the car has? a $40k+ car shouldnt need to be repainted in less than a year.dont get me wrong, im not bashing the car, i LOVE my camaro and always will, i have no other complaints, but GM really does need to change their paint process.

When looking at a basecoat/clear coat system the color coat is very thin and the clear coat is thicker. To my knowledge only Cadillacs get two clear coats.

Yep. Not only that my '87 IROC had 76000 miles on it,16000 miles last the warranty and GM did a bare metal repaint. You gotta love GM sometimes.

1. Ok. Retards who say "He doesn't even own one." I posted pics. Shows how dumb you really are.

2. People who paid 30k. Pics of your contract price or GTFO.

3. I've found THREE vipers UNDER 30k here. Also looking at a 911 this weekend for 23,000 with 50k miles on it. That's possible. It's called auto trader.

4. I'm terribly sorry I got the months of ownership wrong. Sorry I don't keep up to the minute on how long I have had it. When you put 3,000 miles on it in a year, you don't keep track of that.

5. FINALLY. Let me say this. The car does make me happy....until I get out. No person even mentioned the mod money because 50 percent of this forum is in debt to their eyeballs.

I am going forward in finding a new car. My brother sold his for a 2010 335XI twin turbo. Now, his BMW has over 450whp, and smoked my LS3. It's a BMW...and he made it that way...for cheaper than what he paid for his 2012 SS.

To all those who think GTFO, then you are the problem with the forum. Hear what you want to hear, and you are alright. The second someone brings up a legitimate complaint, you just say "Oh, trade it already. Wah. Wah." Yes, ok. I am crying because my car (stickered for $42,000 in Texas when sold originally) has this poor of quality. I'm sorry. Guess you should just fork out $26,000 for a car and just say "Oh, that paint? No big deal. That ding? No big deal. Oh, that steering wheel whine? They've replaced the column already. Still does it. No big deal." Bottom line, you are the ones who need to GTFO. I can't wait until you experience these issues, since most who talk crap have only 5,000 miles on their new SS.

It's funny to see "Those problems don't exist," yet, there are post after post after posts even in this thread about others experiencing the same problems. It's as real as HIV. The point of the thread is to make new owners aware of problems they COULD face with the car. FROM SOMEONE WHO is honest and doesn't think the SS is God's gift to the sports car realm. Will a 911 have problems? Yes. Viper? Absolutely! The issue I have is those cars cost less. Say what you want. Argue and what not, but just a quote I got on the 911 I am scheduled to look at is 120 less a month! That's a Porsche, people! FOR LESS! The camaro is fun, and I may wind up keeping it. I just want the others to have a chance to impress me, as I have never driven a 911 in person. I have driven many vipers, and I can't understand how it has a rougher ride than the SS. They seem on the same level to me as far as that. We will see when I go this weekend what happens. If the 911 is a no go, I have a yellow GTS to go look at.

I will let you all know how it goes, and I will be sure to post pictures of the new ride if I get it....like so many "fail" to do.

As much as I enjoy the look/feel/style I have to agree entirely with the OP. Fact is you can search for every problem he lists on this very forum and probably find multiple threads discussing it.

I have independently watched over the past few months countless posts pop up referencing tons of different issues with the Camaro...the most popular being:

- paint technique (ie, one paint coat/one clear)
- paint quality and available colors

the same exact thing happened to me as far as scratches and dings go, on the way home from the dealer a rock kicked up and nicked the front edge of the hood...and i will leave out the countless other nick/scratch issues i've had. also, who the f*ck at GM chose the available colors? if the paint quality was absolutely amazing i'd say cool, but it's not.

- car power/reliability

even as a v6er I can again wholeheartedly agree with the car running great at times and then as if it's a minivan. way too heavy and for the simple fact that there are other options available for much more power for similar cost to say an fully loaded SS.

can't comment on shifting, i drive an automatic. also due to the fact i don't browse this forum often and/or keep up on current 'issues' i can't say much about incorrect gauge issues, but i CAN agree that the TPMS system sucks at what it does and is notoriously almost always 1-3PSI off at any given moment. same with the gas mileage, that meter blows and i actually talked about that in another thread with people who recommended i obtain MPG manually because of the known issues with it.

the engine cover is not really a big deal, the running lamps do suck and should've been closer to those P13W's or better. who the hell uses nasty ass yellow lights anymore? all newer cars are sporting cooler lights (cooler on the Kelvin scale) and/or LED's. the stock DRL's remind me again of a minivan. the paint peeling under the spoiler is one of those topics i've seen a TON of posts about, but this links back to the poor quality paint issue.

beyond that, my own set of personal 'issues':

- paint quality/thickness/'scratchability' if you will
- engine power/fluctuations (one day great, one day feels slow, etc.)
- incorrect TPMS and MPG readouts
- heater makes odd 'humming' noise (have yet to get looked at)
- field of view

keeping all this in mind, we're hoping the 6 gens wipe out a lot of these 'issues'...

i can also mention again there should've been better quality paint and more color options, the overall 'power' of the vehicle is not on track with other similar models of other cars of the same type (charger, mustang, etc) as far as numbers go. the whole packaging system is idiotic (the LS/LT/SS/ZL1) - where at the low end of the spectrum you're paying $20-24k and at the high end of the spectrum well over double that. there shouldn't be such a gap like that with so many available models, and i can say that as a v6 owner.

and to finish...

people, understand that people are allowed to have a different opinion than you. understand that people have bad experiences with things, cars not being an exception, so when they describe their scenario instead of getting caught up with this 'protecting the brand' bullsh*t maybe really read what they say and see if there is any evidence to back up those claims.

to those who flipped sh*t on the OP because he took a few swings at the manufacturing quality of the vehicle, your 'devotion' to the brand is no different than a teenage girl peeing herself in excitement over the next justin beiber CD, or that rapper who raps about buying patron and nike shoes...it is absolutely no different. a company must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt that their 'brand' is worth purchasing at all, or over other brands. Chevy/GM have not done that with the 5th gen Camaros. While they restyled the car and gave Americans an affordable sports car, they also accepted a big hit to their reputability with all the problems people have with theirs.

oh, did i mention this car is a PITA to upgrade audio as well? need custom dash kits and adapters just to put in a head unit? get the f*ck outta here.

The weight holds it back, which is more disappointing than getting a date with a blonde girl to find out later it's just bleached.
