Texas Mile

I plan to run my ZL1 at the Texas Mile this October. Signup is Sunday August 20th. Slots usually fill up pretty fast!

Anyone else running their ZL1?

Hoping for ~ 170-175 mph in the mile; anything above that would be icing on the cake! My previous car, a 1le with headers, tune, and cold air turned in a best of 161 mph. My wife's car, an SLK55 AMG's best speed was 160 mph.

Takes a lot of HP to gain just a few mph once you're at that speed!

Good Luck!!! I've always wanted to attend but never had the opportunity to drive all the way down to Beeville. Registrations fill up with days so if anyone plans to do it, they gotta be quick to grab the registration! It seems to be a super fun event, at least as long as you don't expect to be a badass because there are always trailered cars with 2k hp and bikes that run 210 haha.

Plan on going full on stock street setup? 170s should be a possibility with stock setup. If you slap on some DRs, I would say definitely!

Good luck man. I think its quite a bit of stress on a motor, even as stout as the LT4 is.

I plan to stay full stock.

The mile is now in Victoria, Tx. So a bit closer!

Oh that's right! They did move! They also did one event in Arkansas and I think did or will do one in Colorado. Maybe they'll come closer to Wichita, KS haha. With all the functioning and abandoned airfields here... You'd think they would find a place but then again, all the airfields are very short for small planes!

If the car can take hot laps for 20+ minutes on a road course, I think it'll be more than fine going in a straight line for a mile at full throttle.

Going on a straight line is stress on the motor?? Tommy Ive followed your car build progress but thats just the dumbest thing ive heard in a long time. These cars are made for high speed. My Buddy got a Z06 48k miles raced and delayed hard every day. Car is super healthy

I see: $550 for 3 days or $450 for two days.

I might have to pass on that - Can't seem to log back in anyway.

They had their share of internet problems today! I signed up as did several new friends, so looking forward to the results!

I'll let you guys know in October how the ZL1 A10 does in the mile!

I'd love to do a 1 mile, but I do have a 1/2 mile planned in October in Illinois. I think I can run 155 in 1/2 mile with my power level. I'm running 133 in 1/4 mile in very hot conditions. I just have a little larger blower then the zl1 but everything else should be similar, mine is lowered so that helps also with less drag. I hope you hit your goal or above. Good luck

Did the hurricane have any effect on the track that you're supposed to run on?

Definitely something you should do once. I went 2 yrs ago when it was in Beeville. Shortly after I was watching Officer & Gentleman, and near the end of the movie he states he is being sent to Beeville. It was a functioning base back when that movie was made

Most amazing feeling just flying towards the horizon at speed, felt like I was going to meet God..

The Texas Mile sent out an informational note and said everything was good and still on for the Mile in October. I think Victoria, Tx. was pretty far outside the flood zone although I think they did get rain.

Looking forward to both a MPH and video I can share with you guys in late October!
