Any rhyme/reason/pattern to when A/C is on?

When I start any climate control in my car that doesn't involve the windshield defroster, it seems that it's completely random whether the a/c light is on (compressor engaged) or not - no matter what temps I have set nor what the ambient temperature is outside. Sometimes I'll look over, and bam, the a/c has decided to be on. Other times, it's not. I haven't been able to figure out why it decides it needs to be on when it's 35f and I have the vent set to 80f, etc etc. Other times it doesn't come on. I don't want the dang a/c on unless I hit the dang a/c button

Check your settings to see if you have A/C set to come on when you start the car. I know on my car, the settings were set to auto turn on both the heated seats and cooled seats, A/C too...

Headunit - Settings - Vehicle - Comfort area if I recall correctly..

I will check that - thanks - it's a place to start at least - it doesn't ever come on when the car is started unless I turned the car off with it on - but say I am driving along and turn the unit "on" (hit the fan button), the a/c may come on, or it may not, regardless of outside temp or climate control temperature settings. It's just not consistent in its behavior.

That was happening to me until I figured out it was on auto on/off. I thought it was possessed.

Oh, another thing I found out, when you use the phone with bluetooth, the A/C fan speed goes down automatically and then back up when you are through talking.
