gas mileage

I know most people do not buy camaros for their great mpg, and I am no exception to the rule. But I do drive my car more than 2k-2.5k miles a month, so mpg does factor into my cost calculations.
that being said, I currently get 33mpg on the freeway. Given the weight loss, aero improvements and more efficient motor, do u believe that 35-36mpg is a realistic expectation?
what do v8 guys currently get on the freeway? Not claimed, but actual? 26?

I can get 27-28 on the hwy pretty easy with my 10 SS manual.

I am curious how these will perform mpg wise in the real world

In my 2012 SS manual I got about 22 mpg highway average around 70-75 mph on a cross country trip (measured and calculated the old-fashioned way, though the DIC was almost spot-on).
For about 10 miles, though, I carefully drafted a semi in a one-lane construction zone at 55 mph and the DIC registered 33 mpg for that 10 miles.
Commuting on highway I got about 20 mpg average due to heavier and inconsistent traffic.

I would expect the manual LT1 6th gen to get around 25 mpg highway for most people, plus or minus a few depending on conditions. Add a couple to the 8-speed with its useful and honed-in AFM (unlike the L99's AFM which was also in a bigger and heavier car).

I think both the V6 and turbo 4 will get outstanding highway mileage, especially the V6 auto on a flat highway (due to AFM). Wouldn't be surprised to see people posting near 40 in perfect conditions.
Those are my predictions, anyway. Time will tell. As always, YMMV.

LOL Road and Track just got 13 mpg with the Mustang Ecoboost 4cyl in the current issue's comparison test.

Correct.
It works amazingly well for me in my C7 manual (but I can turn it off if I want). Given that, I'm not sure why it's not on the 6thgen LT1 manual.

2 times a week I drive the same 130 mile trip. Worst mpg has been 31 best has been 34. Speed limit veries but I usually average 71.
I usually just have the computer calculate it, but check occasionally by hand to make sure it is not lying to me.
I was under the impression that no company uses afm on manual cars :/ I guess from this current discussion I am incorrect.
But neither the V6 or v8 manual camaro will be offered with afm, correct?

Right... According to the info that has been released, no manual trans 2016 Camaro will have AFM. Both the V8 and the V6 automatics will have it.

I've stated my (unpopular) opinion before: I would like to be able to average 22-23 mpg in the SS.

My commute lends itself to good gas mileage, so I think its doable. 16-17 city and 27-28 highway would be a sure fire way to get me into one.

2011 automatic SS. I get about 22-23 mpg highway, but that's after losing a bit due to wider ZL1 / 1LE tires that have higher rolling resistance and some cosmetic mods that ultimately could affect drag. City is about 15 mpg, but only because the throttle gets thrashed a lot between lights.

Nobody will be able to say what the mpg of the 2016 will be until it's driven under real world conditions. The EPA figures are bogus, especially for anything with a turbo, since activation of a turbo increases fuel consumption and the tests are generally carried out when it isn't active.

Sure its doable, I drive mine hard most of the time and average nearly 20, 15% better would be easy if you drove for mpg.

I have a 100 mile (one way) commute twice a week, 20% city, 80% highway, and I average 22 MPG in my 10SS Auto. In town I tend to smash the throttle, but once the cruise is set I tend to leave it.

So yes, 22 MPG on the SS is *VERY* do-able!
